Nivawk
"If it were still in the city, well... though it shames me to say it, I don't think I would try very hard to save it from the Visorak."

Nivawk was a member of a large, hawk-like Rahi species that served Makuta Teridax.[3][4]
Biography
After Makuta Teridax assumed the disguise of Turaga Dume eighteen months prior to the Great Cataclysm, he used Nivawk to spy on enemies for him, as he had the ability to understand the Rahi's language.[5][6] It occasionally transported Teridax from place to place.[7]
Nivawk went to the Great Temple and spied on the conversations of the gathered Matoran Vakama, Nokama, Matau, Onewa, Whenua and Nuju. It watched the Matoran's transformation into Toa Metru, and passed the information on to Teridax. Nivawk observed and reported on the skirmish between the Dark Hunters Nidhiki and Krekka and Toa Vakama, Nokama and Matau in an Airship above the skies of Metru Nui. Later, Nivawk witnessed the same three Toa defeating the Vahki Zadakh guarding the Po-Metru entrance to the Prison of the Dark Hunters and again promptly informed Teridax about their doings.
During the Great Cataclysm, Nivawk attempted to flee, but Teridax caught it with his Shadow Hand and absorbed it into his essence so that he could shapeshift into a more powerful form. Nivawk's wings later appeared on Teridax's shadow titan form during the Battle at the Great Barrier, though he lost them in a later battle with The Shadowed One.
Abilities and Traits
Nivawk was an extremely powerful Rahi, strong enough to carry a Matoran-sized being without any strain. It typically fed on smaller flying Rahi, swooping out of the sky and removing them from their nests. This behavior was a rarity among its kind, who were typically known as scavengers. For offense and defense, Nivawk relied on its sharp beak and claws.

|
Nivawk was released in 2004 in set 8621 Turaga Dume & Nivawk. Nivawk used 156 of the set's 179 pieces. Its wings were able to fold behind it like those of a vulture or spread wide by means of levers on its back. Its chest could open to allow Turaga Dume to ride with the bird. It was also part of the Ultimate Dume set.
The Dume and Nivawk set can also be combined with Nidhiki in order to create the Lohrak model, or with both Nidhiki and Krekka to create the Ultimate Dume model.
Trivia
