"But the truth is, I found a Makuta who preferred talking to being shredded by my claws. He pointed me in the right direction ... and in return, I did not tear him apart. He was quite intact when I absorbed him into my body."
— Makuta Miserix, Dwellers In Darkness
|Makuta of Stelt|
|Pronunciation||mah-KOO-tah of STEHLT|
The Makuta of Stelt was a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta.
The Great Spirit Mata Nui created the Makuta 100,000 years ago using a pool of the substance known as Antidermis located on one of the Southern Islands of the Matoran Universe.[DW, Ch. 4] Like the other Makuta, he was tasked with creating Rahi to populate the universe.
The Makuta species eventually underwent a natural evolution, and transformed from biomechanical beings to Antidermis, a gaseous virus-like state, encompassed in a Protosteel shell. Teridax ordered the Nynrah Ghosts to Destral to modify Makuta armor to accommodate this evolution.[TMC, Ch. 7]
Some time later, Sidorak met with the Makuta of Stelt asking the Brotherhood to select his clan leader, Voporak, for experimentation. The Makuta utilized various mutagenic substances and transformed Voporak into a being sensitive to temporal shifts, as a precaution in case the Vahi were ever to come into existence. The Makuta of Stelt later lent Voporak to the Dark Hunters to learn discipline.
The Makuta of Stelt selected a team of Toa Hagah to serve as his bodyguards. After Toa Norik and his team rebelled against Teridax, many of the Brotherhood's Toa Hagah were killed, while others managed to survive and may have grown corrupt. The fate of the Makuta of Stelt's team is unknown.
When the Great Cataclysm struck the Matoran Universe, the Makuta of Stelt was in Destral. The fortress collapsed during the earthquake, damaging the Makuta's armor, thus causing his essence to leak out into the air. Mutran and Chirox were able to get him into an Exo-Toa body until his armor was repaired.[TMC, Ch. 9]
The Makuta of Stelt fought with Conjurer, who attempted to absorb his power using his Rhotuka. The ploy failed, and the power overloaded the Dark Hunter's system. The Makuta was unaffected by the attempt.
Later, while on Stelt, Miserix found the Makuta and threatened him with being torn to shreds unless he told him where Teridax was. The Makuta pointed the former leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta towards the Core Processor, hoping to be spared. He was then absorbed by Miserix.[DID, Ch. 7]
