Set 8537 (Alternate) Nui-Kopen (instructions)

The Nui-Kopen are huge wasp-like Rahi.

The Nui-Kopen species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[3]

When the Great Cataclysm struck and caused the creation of the island of Mata Nui, several Nui-Kopen from Metru Nui migrated to the island and integrated themselves into the Le-Wahi habitat.[4]

During the the Dark Time on Mata Nui, Nui-Kopen were possessed by Makuta Teridax with his Infected Kanohi, and he often forced them and the Nui-Rama to work together, even living in the same nests. Teridax used one of his possessed Nui-Kopen to ambush Toa Mata Lewa and then fit him with an Infected Mask. The Nui-Kopen saw the arrival of Takua, who had entered the hive in order to rescue the Matoran, and then sent the infected Lewa to attack him. However, thanks to the efforts of Onua, Lewa was freed and reclaimed his mask. Lewa quickly used his Kanohi Komau to exert mind control on the Nui-Kopen and use it as transport to return the kidnapped Matoran residents of Le-Koro.

The Nui-Kopen that inhabited Mata Nui retreated back to Metru Nui after the Toa Nuva released the Bohrok swarms.[5]

After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Nui-Kopen left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]

Mutated Nui-Kopen

Roodaka once owned a mutated Nui-Kopen as her personal pet, which she used to travel very quickly.[6]

It was abandoned after her defeat in the Battle of Metru Nui.[citation needed]

Karda Nui

In Karda Nui, a Nui-Kopen attacked Onua, who retaliated by bashing it into the waters of the Swamp of Secrets. Because of the water's mutagenic properties, the Nui-Kopen transformed into a creature with a longer wingspan, a sharp and barbed stinger and tentacles sprouting from its sides.[7]

It was later killed when the Energy Storms struck.[8]

Abilities and Traits

Nui-Kopen are bitter enemies of the smaller Nui-Rama as both species hunt the same prey.[9] They are also rivals with the Kirikori Nui.[2]

Like the Nui-Rama, the Nui-Kopen can fly high above the treetops at incredible speeds.
