"This creature possesses tremendous strength, allowing it to easily lift ten times its own weight. Combine this raw power with sharp claws, a swordlike tail, and pincushion armor, and it is no wonder this Rahi has proven a threat even to Visorak."

Spiny Stone Apes are large and territorial Rahi who dwell in rocky regions.

History

The Spiny Stone Ape species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[2]

On Metru Nui, Spiny Stone Apes took up residence in Po-Metru, where they were often found hiding among the Protodermis structures in Po-Metru and sometimes shared caverns with Rock Raptors.[3]

After the Great Cataclysm, some Spiny Stone Apes migrated to Po-Wahi on the island of Mata Nui, where they lived for 1,000 years.[4] When the Toa Nuva intentionally unleashed the Bohrok, these Spiny Stone Apes migrated back to Metru Nui.[5]

After the Mata Nui Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Spiny Stone Apes left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]

Abilities and Traits

When threatened, Spiny Stone Apes curl up into a ball and use their sharp foreclaws, bladed tail, and spiny hides for protection.

Spiny Stone Apes possess a symbiotic relation with Rock Raptors, often sharing caverns with them in exchange for protecting the Rock Raptors from predation.[3]
