Ice Bats are obnoxious flying Rahi pests.
History
The Ice Bat species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[2]
Many Ice Bats made their homes on the tops of Knowledge Towers in Ko-Metru. Here, they were known to fly into observatories and to smash everything on their way out; they also made navigating Ko-Metru by air a hazard, leading most Airships to instead use other routes.[3]
During the Visorak occupation of Metru Nui following the Great Cataclysm, Rahaga Kualus summoned thousands of Ice Bats to fend off several Suukorak menacing him and Toa Hordika Nuju. The Ice Bats swarmed and battled the Suukorak until Kualus and Nuju escaped, and then retreated.[4]
500 years ago, Metru Nui's last Ice Bat flock was summoned by Kualus' Rahaga Staff to distract the Visorak, while the Rahaga and Turaga Dume helped Keetongu.[5]
After the Mata Nui Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, many Ice Bats emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.[1]
Abilities and Traits
Ice Bats are white or translucent white[6] and not especially dangerous to Matoran, but can be destructive, causing them to be labeled as pests. They are considered a delicacy by the Crystal Climbers.[7] They are perfectly aerodynamic and their flight speed is faster than a stampeding Kikanalo herd.[8]
Trivia
- When Whenua was a Matoran, several dozen Ice Bats escaped from their Stasis Tubes and infested the Archives' administrative offices.[9]
