"The Barraki have 'tamed' many monstrous sea creatures to serve them, including this mutated crab beast. They use them to patrol the borders of their terrain, watching for Toa Mahri. When they spot a Toa, the sea titan attacks, using its claws and tentacle to defeat the heroes!"

History

The Spider Crab species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[2]

When the Great Cataclysm shattered the Pit and allowed access to the Black Water of Aqua Magna, several Spider Crabs migrated to the ocean above and integrated into its natural ecosystem. The escaped Barraki tamed several Spider Crabs, and used them to patrol their territory.[3]

Approximately 1,000 years later, the Barraki were recaptured by Hydraxon, and the Spider Crabs were released from service.[citation needed]

After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Spider Crabs within left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]

Abilities and Traits

Spider Crabs have claws, tentacles, armor spikes, and a 40 cm (15.75 inch) thick protective shell. They are capable of reaching speeds up to twenty-five knots (46.3 Kmph / 29 Mph), and can carry one passenger. Spider Crabs are the only sea creatures which the Toa Terrain Crawler fears.[4]
