"Hapaka are native to the mountainous regions of Mata Nui, where they bound from rock to rock with sure-footed ease. Natural herders with a sharp, barking cry, they are often trained to guard Po-Koro's precious Maha [sic] and Husi flocks. They are friendly and curious creatures that make loyal pets and companions."

The Hapaka are hound-like[BEU, p. 43] Rahi sometimes tamed by Matoran.

History

The Hapaka species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[MGttU, p. 63]

Some Hapaka took up residence in Metru Nui. They were used briefly in Ga-Metru to drive away packs of Kavinika, with mixed success.[BEU, p. 43] After the Great Cataclysm, they moved to the mountainous regions of Mata Nui.[LEGO Club]

1,000 years later, when the Matoran returned to Metru Nui, the Hapaka migrated back with them.[citation needed]

After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, many Hapaka emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.[OGDi: Apr 4 2010, 12:11 PM][OGDi: Apr 7 2010, 01:19 PM]

Abilities and Traits

On Metru Nui, the Hapaka were employed to drive away Kavinika. Although they were certainly fierce enough for the task, they were easily distracted by the chance to chase other Rahi.[BEU, p. 43]

In the mountainous regions of Mata Nui, Hapaka traveled from rock to rock with great agility. Hapaka were known for their herding skills and their sharp, barking cry. Therefore, they were often trained to protect the Mahi and Husi flocks of Po-Koro.[LEGO Club]

Hapaka are usually friendly and very curious creatures, so they were often taken in as pets.[LEGO Club]
