Hapaka

The Hapaka are hound-like Rahi sometimes tamed by Matoran.[2]
History
The Hapaka species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[3]
Some Hapaka took up residence in Metru Nui. They were used briefly in Ga-Metru to drive away packs of Kavinika, with mixed success.[2] After the Great Cataclysm, they moved to the mountainous regions of Mata Nui, where they were tamed by the Po-Matoran and trained to protect Mahi herds and Husi flocks.[4]
1,000 years later, when the Matoran returned to Metru Nui, the Hapaka migrated back with them.[5]
After the Mata Nui Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, many Hapaka emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.[1]
Abilities and Traits
On Metru Nui, the Hapaka were employed to drive away Kavinika. Although they were certainly fierce enough for the task, they were easily distracted by the chance to chase other Rahi.[2]
In the mountainous regions of Mata Nui, Hapaka traveled from rock to rock with great agility. Hapaka were known for their herding skills and their sharp, barking cry. Therefore, they were often trained to protect the Mahi herds and Husi flocks of Po-Koro.[4]
Hapaka are usually friendly and very curious creatures, so they were often taken in as pets.[4]

A Hapaka can be built out of the Bohrok Va sets 8550 Gahlok Va and 8551 Kohrak Va. Instructions can be found on the LEGO Club website.

- Though Hapaka are described as hound-like, the Hapaka model is labeled as an elephant in the markup and image URLs of its LEGO Club online building instructions.
