"The clever and noisy Mata Nui Fishing Birds live in the lower branches of the Le-Wahi jungle. They have keen eyesight and delight in swooping just out of reach of hungry Rahi, taunting them with mocking squawks and screeches. They are skilled at diving for fish and often flock to the sea, where they merrily splash and chatter in the sparkling waves."

The Mata Nui Fishing Birds are clever and noisy Rahi birds.

History

The Mata Nui Fishing Bird species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[3]

The birds could be found along the coasts of Le-Metru on Metru Nui. After the Great Cataclysm, many fled the Visorak through the Great Barrier and arrived on Mata Nui, where they made their home among the lower branches of the Le-Wahi jungle. Here, they resided for 1,000 years.[2]

When the Toa Nuva intentionally unleashed the Bohrok, the Mata Nui Fishing Birds migrated back to Metru Nui.[4]

After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Mata Nui Fishing Birds left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]

Abilities and Traits

The diet of Mata Nui Fishing Birds consists primarily of fish, which they find using their keen eyesight and catch by diving into the sea. Flocks gather in the water, where the birds can often be found happily splashing and chattering.

Taking advantage of their swift flight, these Rahi seem to take pleasure in swooping low around Rahi predators before soaring away, merrily chittering at having deprived the slower Rahi of what seems at first to be an easy meal.
