The Great Temple Squid are squid-like Rahi.

History

The Great Temple Squid species was created by the Great Beings as one of the First Rahi.[1]

Great Temple Squids used to infest the waters around the Great Temple of Metru Nui. They were a menace to Matoran divers, and the Dweller in the Deep was their only natural enemy, as it was the only creature they feared.[3]

At least one Great Temple Squid was part of the group of First Rahi which were studied in the Archives, and then brought to the Great Barrier by Mavrah.[1] It eventually made its way to Mata Nui, where it made its lair in a deep Ga-Wahi cave from which the Toa Metru had once emerged onto the island.[4][5][6] 500 years ago, the Squid attacked a Ga-Matoran canoe and thereafter Ga-Koro, but was driven off when Amaya tangled it in a fishing line.[7]

When Turaga Nokama abandoned Toa Nuva Gali in this cave to find her Kakama Nuva, the Squid attacked, but Gali used the Kakama Nuva to escape from the cave.[4][8]

After the Mata Nui Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, many Great Temple Squids emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.[2]

Abilities and Traits

The Great Temple Squid had twelve huge tentacles, each with a small beak at the end, and another, larger beak that could be seen at the center of the creature's body. Their strength rivals that of a Toa.[4]
