"In the many, many years since we became Rahaga, my friends - Gaaki, Pouks, Bomonga, Iruini, and Kualus - have joined with me to dedicate our lives to protecting wild creatures from the Visorak. It has been both a difficult and dangerous task, but one vitally important to the future of our world.

If we succeed, then those who read these words will know better how to live with these creatures. If we fail, this may be the only record that these creatures ever existed."

BIONICLE: Rahi Beasts is a guide book on Rahi, written by Greg Farshtey and Jeff James, and released in the summer of 2005.

Content

In-universe, the book was written by Rahaga Norik during the Great Rescue. After a general introduction to Rahi, the book contains 45 full-page entries of different Rahi (counting the six breeds of Visorak as one). Each entry offers information on that Rahi's habitat, behavior, abilities, and a closing comment from one of the Rahaga with advice concerning that Rahi. On the page opposite each entry is a high-resolution image of the Rahi.

Of the 45 models featured, 19 were custom models created by LEGO fans as part of the Rahi Building Challenge held through LEGO Magazine. The winning model, the Tahtorak, is featured on the guidebook cover. The 26 other featured models were all official LEGO sets or combiner models of official LEGO sets.

The book also contains a six-page appendix with short descriptions of other Rahi that can be found in Metru Nui. Most of these Rahi were smaller models (or combiner models, or alternate models), or had no official depiction at all.

Trivia

  • BIONICLE: Rahi Beasts was mentioned briefly in BIONICLE: World as one of the books in the Order of Mata Nui's library, written by Rahaga Norik.
  • Although the winning Rock Lion model was invited for inclusion in the guide, the builder did not submit the model for an official photo, so it was reduced to a mention in the appendix.
