Toa Seal
"Their six elements flowed together to form a beam of pure white energy, which they hurled at Makuta, leeching his shadow power from him. A shell of protodermis formed around the master of shadows, sealing him in. With a final burst of power, the beam marked his prison with the sign of the Toa."

A Toa Seal or Protodermis Cage is created when any six Toa of any six different elements join their Elemental Powers together at the exact same time to create an impenetrable Protodermis prison.[1][2] This can also be done by any being imitating the powers of Toa, such as Krahka.[3] The timing must be precise in order to form such a seal.[4]
History
There have been two known cages: the Toa Metru created one to imprison Teridax, and the Toa Mata created another to imprison the Bahrag. Both of these cages were eventually unlocked.
Krahka accidentally began creating a Protodermis Cage when she fought against the Toa Metru. When Whenua broke Krahka's concentration, she merged the six Toa Metru's elements together. The result was the substance of the protodermis cage, which struck one of her dwelling's walls.[3]
Properties
The crystal of the Toa Seal is extremely durable, even more so than Protosteel,[5] to the point that powerful beings like Roodaka, Sidorak and the assembled Visorak Hordes were not strong enough to break it.[6] It harms those who attempt to damage it. The act of carving a small piece off of Teridax's seal caused Roodaka great pain and nearly killed her.[7] The Toa Seal drains the energy from its prisoner[8] and blocks all kinds of transport, such as teleportation.[9] The prison also occludes long range telepathy.[10][11]
The only way to free a being from the cage is to unlock it with the same elemental powers that formed it,[12][13][14] as seen when the Toa Nuva unlocked the cage that trapped the Bahrag.[15] Even a fraction of the Toa Seal will suffice; Roodaka carved a sliver off of Teridax's cage, and later caught all six elements within it, unlocking the entire cage.[16]
Despite their resistance to elemental power, Zyglak are not immune to being trapped in a Toa Seal.[17]
Because Toa Power is another component necessary to form the seal, beings other than Toa (save Krahka) cannot combine powers of any sort to create a Toa Seal.[18][19][3]
Quote
"Reacting to their maneuver, the Krahka pointed her six arms all in one direction and brought the powers bursts near to each other. At the crucial moment, Whenua tore out of the ground behind her, his shout of rage breaking her concentration. The elemental energies she wielded merged together in that one instant into one awesome blast.
The Toa narrowly ducked the power beam. Only Vakama turned to see that where it struck a new substance had formed, one that looked like solid protodermis. How could that be? he wondered. Is that what would happen if we combined out powers? Maybe—"

Trivia
- Toa of Light and Toa of Shadow are unable to create a seal together, as the two elements cancel each other out.[20]
- If the Toa Inika had created a Toa Seal, it would have been electrified.[21]
- A Toa's elemental energy can be drained once the Toa has died, and used to open the seal. Roodaka planned to do this with the Toa Hordika.[22]
