History

The Tren Krom Break came into being when the Great Spirit Mata Nui's camouflage system was accidentally activated during the Great Cataclysm, creating the island of Mata Nui.[3] It was named after the legendary Tren Krom by Toa Metru Vakama while the Toa arrived on the island to find a refuge for the Matoran of Metru Nui.[citation needed]

During Makuta Teridax's assault on the Matoran, the Ta-Koro Guard had an outpost called the Tren Krom Redoubt,[4] which kept contact with the North March.[5] However, the outpost eventually fell to infected Rahi,[4] and the Ta-Koro Guard lost contact with the North March shortly afterward.[5]

The Ta-Wahi side of the cable car route

The Tren Krom Break was the site of Ignalu Lava Surfing competitions. Lava Farmers also worked here, farming heat for Ta-Koro.[6] When the infected Rahi overran the Tren Krom Break, the lava farms were off-limits, considered too dangerous for Ta-Matoran to return to work.[4]

The two sides of the Break were connected by a Cable Car, a transportation device used by the Guard and Sanctum Guard. The Cable Car spanned the Break, with one side in Ta-Wahi at the North March, and the other in Ko-Wahi at an area of Mount Ihu. At the North March side, a Ta-Koro Guard member was stationed, who allowed only those possessing an Ensign to utilize the transport. The wandering Av-Matoran Takua used the Cable Car to travel from Ta-Wahi to Ko-Wahi.[5]

The Tren Krom Break was later cleared by the reawakened Bohrok swarms[citation needed: MGttU?] and completely obliterated when the Great Spirit Mata Nui reawakened.[7]
