Annual is a 64-page hardcover activity and storyline book published on 4th of September, 2006 as a part of a series by Harper Collins Children's Books. It includes a multitude of activities, information on the 2006 storyline, as well as the wider BIONICLE world. The book also features the complete Tale of the Toa.

The book opens with a timeline of all the major events from the series, from Toa-Dark Hunter War, the Great Cataclysm and the Great Rescue, through the struggles of the Matoran on the Island of Mata Nui, comming of the Toa Mata and Metru Nui's rediscovery, to the Toa Nuva's dissapearance on Voya Nui, the danger of the Piraka and the emergence of Toa Inika. After the first part of the Tale of the Toa, the book explains the Matoran alphabet and provides sentences to practice on. Next are "Meet the Matoran" roll & move game and "The Matoran Resistance" coloring pages. Following the interlude in the form of the second part of Tale of the Toa, the reader is challenged with connecting Toa with their mask activity. Map of Voya Nui with highlighted features is also present in the book, and the task is to choose one that leads to the Mask of Life. The Needle Rock riddle coded in Matoran language serves as a clue from the Resistance movement to make the right choice. Third part of the Tale of the Toa follows after the "Toa Wordsearch". Rahi version of spot the difference and Piraka name unscramble lead into a crossword puzzle, until the fourth and final part of Tale of the Toa is provided by the Annual. Final pages include the answers to all tasks in the book. The book also contains an exclusive Kanoka Club code.

  • Despite being the only hardcover book in the series, the Annual numbers its pages from cover to cover.
  • Page numbers for pages 8, 20, 24, 36 and 40 are missing.
  • A group shot of the Toa Nuva on pages 3 and 64 mistakenly show Pohatu in his Mata form.
