"These aren't just doubles — they are me. They are all me. Each one plucked from my past to aid me in the present. An instant army, ever loyal, and I can call on as many as I need."
Makuta Bitil, Swamp of Secrets

Mohtrek
Kanohi
Title Mask of Time Duplication
Powers Summons user's past selves
Bearers Bitil (formerly)
Pronunciation MOE-treck[1]

The Kanohi Mohtrek is the Mask of Time Duplication, also known as the Mask of Duplication.[2][3] It allows its user to transport one or more past versions of themselves to the present as long as they maintain concentration.[2] The user can transport versions of themselves from times when they were not wearing the Kanohi Mohtrek.[4][5][6] Past versions who did wear the Mohtrek cannot use it to summon more duplicates.[7] When these past selves are returned to their times, all memories of what they did are erased, but all physical damage they sustain is kept. If a past self is killed, the user will vanish, and an alternate timeline where they did not exist will be created.[2][8] The amount of concentration required to keep the past selves in the present exponentially increases with the number summoned,[9] although there is no limit to how many can be summoned.[10] If a Makuta summoned a past version of themselves that left their armor, only the Antidermis would be transported.[11] If a past version was using a Kanohi Iden to possess another body, the body cannot be transported.[12] The Mohtrek cannot be used to summon past versions from other timelines.[13]

Example Usage

Bitil's past selves, transported via his Mohtrek

Bitil summoned nearly fifty of his past selves to fight against Toa Nuva Onua in Swamp of Secrets.

Bearers

Great

Makuta Bitil - Formerly wore a shapeshifted version;[14] now deceased

Trivia

  • Toa would not normally wear this mask because they feel its power is immoral as it both violates the laws of time and is associated with the Makuta.[15]
  • Like the rest of the immoral Kanohi, Mohtrek were created under the direction of Brotherhood of Makuta.[16]
  • Bitil considered his Mohtrek a curse as much as a blessing, as he often found himself injured at random times and without any memory of what happened after fighting in future battles.[17]
