The Lake of Fire[1] was a lake of lava on which the village of Ta-Koro rested on the island of Mata Nui.

History

The Lake of Fire came into being when the Great Spirit Mata Nui's camouflage system was accidentally activated during the Great Cataclysm and created the island of Mata Nui.

When the Toa Metru arrived on the island of Mata Nui to search for a refuge for the Matoran of Metru Nui, Vakama chose the Lake of Fire in Ta-Wahi to be the future location of the village of Ta-Koro. Later, when the Matoran were awakened on Mata Nui, Turaga Vakama supervised the Ta-Matoran construction efforts of the village on the Lake.

The entrance to the Lake was guarded by a small fortress commanded by the Ta-Koro Guard. Past the fortress, a bridge consisting of several stone platforms could be raised and lowered into the lava to provide passage into the village.

The Rahkshi later caused Ta-Koro to sink into the Lake. The Lake was later destroyed when the Bohrok swarms were reawakened and cleansed the island of Mata Nui and later wiped from existence when Mata Nui woke up.
