The Protodermis Reclamation Center was an area in Ta-Metru where flawed tools and Kanoka were stored and recycled.

History

The Protodermis Reclamation Center was a recycling plant consisting of its Protodermis Reclamation Yard and the Protodermis Reclamation Furnace. The Reclamation Yard was the destination of flawed tools and Kanohi, where they were temporarily placed in storage containers so that they could later be melted down for recycling purposes at the Reclamation Furnace. Within the furnace were gigantic containers subject to scorching hot flames. Once melted, the slag would be sent for reuse in other crafting projects. The area was supervised by the Ta-Matoran Kalama, who was considered to have held this post for too long, as he talked to the masks as if they were alive. Security was light, as the Vahki believed that no one would be interested in stealing items from a junkyard.

During the Morbuzakh attacks, the Mask Maker Nuhrii visited the Reclamation Yard to track down a Kanohi mask that he had created. The mask was allegedly flawed because he had forged it too quickly, and Nuhrii had sent the mask to the Yard to be melted down. After receiving a note from Ko-Metru stating that the mask was fine and should not be recast, Nuhrii hurried to the Yard, only to discover that the Kanohi was in fact flawed. Soon after, Toa Metru Vakama visited the Reclamation Yard, where Kalama explained that Nuhrii had already been to the pile of unwanted debris and departed. Acting on information from a note that Nuhrii had dropped, Vakama departed the Yard as well.

Later on, during the Toa Metru's search for the Great Disks, the Dark Hunter Nidhiki tried to kill Toa Vakama and Onewa in the Protodermis Reclamation Center by forcing them into a disposal shaft. They were saved by Vakama, who absorbed the fire and projected it away from them.

The Reclamation Center was damaged in the earthquake caused by the Great Cataclysm. After the events of the Great Rescue, it was here that Vakama and Makuta Teridax met at a stalemate in a battle over the Kanohi Vahi.

1,000 years later, the center was later repaired by the usage of the Staff of Artakha.

The Protodermis Reclamation Center, like the rest of Metru Nui, was severely damaged when a fragment of Aqua Magna struck the head of the Mata Nui Robot during Teridax's battle with Mata Nui. Later, the Protodermis Reclamation Center, along with all other locations in the Matoran Universe, was dismantled.
