Ga-Metru Schools were places of enlightenment where Ga-Matoran worked as Teachers or students in Ga-Metru.

History

In these schools, Teachers taught their students many subjects, including the Matoran language, history, diplomacy,[2] and science. Rarely would the schools accept anyone outside of their own Metru, but Ko-Matoran were occasionally permitted to become exchange students. The schools were open to visitors, however. Tourists could watch students in the Protodermis Labs, and even join them during lectures. Tourism of the Ga-Metru schools was an especially popular activity among Ko-Matoran and Onu-Matoran.

Before she became the Toa Metru of Water, Nokama was a Teacher and was instructing a class when Lhikan handed her a Toa Stone.

Protodermis Labs

Ga-Metru was known for two things: its schools and Protodermis purification labs. As such the schools would teach students the process of purification. Almost everyday the students would go to a nearby Protodermis lab and learn about its facilities. Teachers and students were able to experiment with Protodermis, if they were lucky enough, and sometimes sent samples of their results to Ko-Metru. The labs themselves strove for more efficiency to use and purify Protodermis. They even tried to synthesize Energized Protodermis itself.

Visitors to the Labs could briefly observe work in the labs through large windows, though were prohibited from entering the chambers themselves. This was for the safety of students as well as the observers, and was enforced by the Vahki.

Toa Nokama traveled here shortly after her transformation into a Toa Metru. She was searching for Vhisola, but discovered the Labs to have been ransacked by Nidhiki. The Dark Hunter had stolen Vhisola's research notes, hoping to discover the location of the Ga-Metru Great Disk. Nokama found a broken tablet in the mess and reassembled it, to find that it had the code to Vhisola's home's safe.

After the Great Cataclysm, it was theorized by the Rahaga that something in the labs was making the Kavinika population grow rapidly.

When the fragment of Aqua Magna hit Metru Nui, it severely damaged the schools, along with everything else in Metru Nui. Later, Ga-Metru Schools, along with all other locations in the Matoran Universe, were dismantled.[3][4]
