"Darkness" is a watchful Dark Hunter assigned to supervise the Shadowed One's actions and decisions to ensure that his leader does not become merciful and compassionate.

Biography

Darkness constantly looms over the Shadowed One, waiting for the leader of the Dark Hunters to make a mistake, so he can kill him and take the Shadowed One's position for himself. When the Shadowed One travels to other islands, Darkness follows him in order to keep an eye on him. However, even when he does not travel with the Shadowed One, he still manages to watch him. He rarely leaves the Shadowed One, and only then to discipline disobedient Dark Hunters.

5,000 years ago, when five Skakdi Dark Hunters (later to become the Piraka) attempted to rebel against the Shadowed One, Darkness briefly left the Shadowed One's side to speak with them. He warned them of their actions, and that the Shadowed One knew of their plans. Several of the Skakdi panicked and tried to run, but all were eventually brought before the Shadowed One, who disciplined them severely.

Darkness, along with the Shadowed One, eventually relocated to Xia at the behest of the Order of Mata Nui. Darkness was present when the Shadowed One found several Makuta viruses and killed Ancient and when the Barraki requested a meeting. However, when one of the vials was shattered and the Shadowed One disappeared from Xia, Darkness did not accompany him.

After the Mata Nui Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, Darkness emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.

Alternate Universes

Toa Empire Alternate Universe

In this alternate universe, Darkness was a member of Pohatu's resistance team and was charged with gathering all of the Dark Hunters still in Metru Nui to join the final assault against Tuyet. In the ensuing battle, Darkness used his powers to enter the Coliseum through cracks in the wall, but was swept away outside the Hall of Masks after Tuyet unleashed a flood.

Abilities and Traits

Darkness has the ability to bend and slither through minuscule places. The Shadowed One believed this was not the full extent of his powers, however. He is considered to be one of the most powerful Dark Hunters and able to take down the Shadowed One if needed.

Most of the events that transpire around the Shadowed One mean little to Darkness. His sole interest is waiting for the Shadowed One to show weakness, so that he can kill the Dark Hunter leader and replace him.

Darkness has various claws and blades sharp enough to tear through most armor.

Trivia

• Darkness was created by Richard Glover, who gave him a name and storyline role, and sent in to The LEGO Group as part of the Dark-Hunter Building Contest. As a contest winner, his entry made an appearance in BIONICLE: Dark Hunters.
• Darkness does not wear the Kanohi Kraahkan. He is simply depicted wearing it because that is how his creator made him.
