The Void
The Void | |
Takanuva emerging from an interdimensional portal
Elemental Power | |
Associated Kanohi | None |
Matoran prefix | None |
Associated colors | Primary: Silver Secondary: Gray |
The Void (occasionally Space) is an Elemental Power.
Species Wielders
Matoran Universe
In the Matoran Universe, the Void is represented by the colors silver and gray. It does not have an associated prefix.
- Matoran of the Void represent the Element of the Void. They appear to be members of other Matoran tribes, unaware of their true nature. Unlike other Matoran types, their latent Void power does not manifest in any way. Both male and female Matoran, Toa, and Turaga of the Void can exist.
- A Toa of the Void possesses the Elemental Power of the Void, allowing him/her to manipulate the fabric of space in the immediate environment. Unlike Toa of other known elements, Toa of the Void cannot create nor absorb their element. When Toa of the Void run out of elemental Void energy, they must wait for it to recharge.
- A Turaga of the Void would possess small traces of Void power.
Alternate Locations
- The Spectral Mask has the power to open portals to other dimensions.
Examples
- Warping space
- Changing the course of moving objects
- Teleporting oneself and/or others
- Opening portals to other locations
- Opening portals to other dimensions (exclusive to the Olmak and the Spectral Mask)
- Bending space to achieve flight
Combinations
- Beings other than Toa and the Krahka cannot combine powers of any sort to create a Toa Seal. As long as each wields a different element, and Light and Shadow are not included at the same time, any six Toa can create a Protodermis cage.
Users
The following have/had the Element of the Void and/or its sub-powers:
- Kahfen, the only Toa of the Void
- Artakha - teleportation
- The Spectral Mask - opening interdimensional portals
- The Kanohi Olmak and any user of one - opening intra- and interdimensional portals
- The Kanohi Kadin and any user of one.
- A staff possessed by Vanisher - intradimensional portals.
Trivia
- Unlike Toa of other elements, Toa of the Void cannot perform Nova Blasts.
- Kanohi and Toa Disks of the Void cannot exist.
- Most teleportation users, including the Makuta, dissolve the target's substance and reconstitute it at its destination. Kahfen and Artakha teleport objects and beings by warping space around their targets. The latter method utilizes a sub-power of the Void, while the former does not. As such, a powerful Void user can teleport through the shields of Karda Nui and potentially even the Great Spirit Robot.
Fluox
Fluox | |
Kanohi | |
Title | Mask of Elasticity |
Powers | Stretching the user's body |
Bearers | Gahla |
Pronunciation | FLOO-ox |
The Kanohi Fluox is the Mask of Elasticity. When activated, it softens the user’s body and allows them to stretch it at will. It also gives its user enhanced agility and flexibility and makes them more physically resilient. The Great Fluox allows the user to stretch their body up to ten times its normal length and one-eighth its normal width; the Noble version allows five times length and one-fourth width.
Bearers
Great
- Toa Gahla
Matoran
- Gahla (Formerly, became Great when he transformed into a Toa)
Ruhum
Ruhum | |
Kanohi | |
Title | Mask of Friction |
Powers | Decreasing or increasing friction |
Bearers | Ferrik |
Pronunciation | ROO-hum |
The Kanohi Ruhum is the Mask of Friction. It lets the user control how much friction their body generates as it comes into contact with other substances. The wearer can climb walls and ceilings by increasing their friction until they stick, or reduce friction to slide along any solid surface. It can also be used to increase or decrease fluid friction – for example, cutting air resistance to slightly increase speed. A Great Ruhum can be used to lock the user in place with static friction, to eliminate friction altogether, or anything in between; the Noble version cannot reach these extremes.
Bearers
Great
- Toa Ferrik
Matoran
- Ferrik (Formerly, became Great when he transformed into a Toa)
Fizkon
Fizkon | |
Kanohi | |
Title | Mask of Evasion |
Powers | Dodging attacks |
Bearers | Nuto |
Pronunciation | FIZZ-con |
The Kanohi Fizkon is the Mask of Evasion, also known as the Mask of Dodging. It allows the user to dodge most incoming attacks. Once activated, it moves the user’s body to avoid taking damage. The Fizkon does not enhance its user’s speed or agility; its effectiveness depends on the user’s natural physical abilities. Certain types of attacks cannot be dodged, such as shockwaves, explosions, or other radial attacks. A Great Fizkon also randomly distorts light around the user’s body, causing their image to distort when viewed from afar and making them harder to aim at; the Noble version lacks this feature. Like a Hau, the Fizkon cannot protect against surprise attacks.
Bearers
Great
- Toa Nuto
Matoran
- Nuto (Formerly, became Great when he transformed into a Toa)
Trivia
- An opponent wearing a Sanok would hit a Fizkon-user half of the time, assuming they were both wearing the same type of Kanohi, Great or Noble.
Aldiin
Aldiin | |
Kanohi | |
Title | Mask of Carnage |
Powers | Sending the wearer into a berserker frenzy |
Bearers | Kryon |
Pronunciation | all-DEEN |
The Kanohi Aldiin is the Mask of Carnage, also known as the Mask of Rage. When activated, it greatly enhances the user’s physical abilities, but reduces their mind to that of a beast. It must be activated with an objective in mind; until that objective is complete - or until the user loses consciousness - the user is not in control of their actions and cannot deactivate the Aldiin on their own. While the Aldiin is active, the wearer cannot distinguish friend from foe, and they are likely to attack their allies. The Great Aldiin triples the user’s strength, speed, and endurance, while the Noble version only doubles these attributes. Using an Aldiin causes exhaustion proportionate to the duration of its activation, so it is best used as a last resort.
If an Aldiin were to be removed or destroyed while in use, the user would likely lose consciousness.
Bearers
Great
- Toa Kryon
Trivia
- A Toa would not normally wear this mask, as they would consider its power immoral as it may bring harm to their allies and to themselves. Kryon's reasons for wearing it are unknown.
- Kryon's Great Aldiin is made of Protosteel.
- The power of the Aldiin was inspired by the Berserkers of Viking myth.
Faras
Faras | |
Solra's Great Faras, shaped like a Noble Akaku
Kanohi | |
Title | Mask of Magnetism |
Powers | Magnetism |
Component disks | Disk of Magnetism |
Bearers | Solra |
Pronunciation | FAH-rass |
The Kanohi Faras is the Mask of Magnetism. It allows the user to generate and manipulate magnetic fields, but it cannot be used to absorb magnetism. This mask is one of the few to have Elemental Powers, but it will not boost any preexisting magnetic powers the user may already have. A Noble Faras would grant its user Turaga-level control over Magnetism.
Kanohi Faras can be crafted from Kanoka of Magnetism. Solra's was forged from the Toa Disk of a Turaga of Magnetism who wore a Noble Akaku, which inspired its shape.

Searer Sword
Searer Sword | |
The blade of the Searer Sword
Tool | |
Manufacturer | Order of Mata Nui |
Users | Kahfen |
Function | Channeling her Void powers Firing energy beams Melee combat |
Status | In use |
The Searer Sword is Toa Rode Kahfen's Toa Tool. When Kahfen first became a Toa during Makuta Teridax's reign over the Matoran Universe, the Order of Mata Nui recognized the limited offensive capabilities of her element and gave her an offensive weapon to compensate. As well as serving as a means for Kahfen to channel her Void powers, it also shoot beams of pure energy and can be used in melee combat.
Clawed Warhammer
Clawed Warhammer | |
Tool | |
Users | Grivon |
Function | Channeling his Stone powers Hurling stones Melee combat |
Status | In use |
The Clawed Warhammer is Toa Rode Grivon's Toa Tool. It was transformed from a tool he used as a Matoran that he had on his person when he became a Toa. It is made of a rare, dense material and is very heavy as a result. Grivon boasts that Toa of other elements (who do not have the same level of strength as a Toa of Stone) would have trouble wielding it. Its head has a flat face on one side and a claw that allows Grivon to pick up stones with ease and throw them great distances. It also channels his Stone powers and serves as a fearsome melee weapon.
Trivia
- While visiting Xia, a Vortixx Rhotuka Battle Axe caught Grivon's attention. He toyed with the idea of replacing his Clawed Warhammer with one of the versatile Xian weapons, but decided that the axe was too unwieldy to be used by a being his size, and kept his current tool.
Forest Jet Blades
Forest Jet Blades | |
Tool | |
Users | Vilkin |
Function | Channeling his Green powers Generating wind gusts Flying Melee combat |
Status | In use |
The Forest Jet Blades, also called the Floral Jet Blades, are Toa Rode Vilkin's Toa Tools. They are artfully-crafted, leaf-shaped blades with jet turbines mounted near the hilts. With the flip of a switch, Vilkin can use them to generate intense gusts of wind, although they do not give him any power over Air as an element. Additionally, he can attach them to his back, allowing him to use their jet function to achieve flight. The blades also channel his Green powers and can be used in melee combat.
Cold-Fire Lance
Cold-Fire Lance | |
Tool | |
Manufacturer | Nynrah Ghosts |
Users | Kryon |
Function | Channeling his Ice powers Throwing ice-cold flames Melee combat |
Status | In use |
The Cold-Fire Lance, also called the Cold-Fire Spear, is Toa Rode Kryon's Toa Tool. It is masterfully crafted from Protosteel, leading Ferrik to surmise that it was forged by the Nynrah Ghosts. It can channel his Ice powers like any other Toa Tool, but it has another setting which transforms Kryon's energies into a form resembling freezing, blue-colored fire. In this state, the "cold-fire" can spread on its own, allowing Kryon to freeze large targets without using much of his Elemental Energy. However, once the cold-fire is used, it can be difficult to control or contain, so it must be used with caution.
Trivia
- Like most Toa Tools, the Cold-Fire Lance can channel any type of elemental power. However, only a Toa of Ice is capable of using the cold-fire function.
