The Nuhvok Va are the Bohrok Va assigned to help the Bohrok Nuhvok.

History

The Nuhvok Va were created by the Great Beings to assist the Nuhvok in clearing Mata Nui, reverting it to its original status as a barren wasteland. Upon creation, the Va were placed in hibernation along with the other Bohrok, waiting for the time to be awakened to perform their duty.

After Makuta Teridax was defeated by the Toa Mata, he unleashed the swarms to hinder their progress.[3] The Nuhvok Va awoke, and began aiding the Nuhvok in their attempts of leveling the island, providing krana to Nuhvok that had lost them to the Toa.[4]

During the Toa Mata's battles against the Bohrok, Onua took it upon himself to protect his village, Onu-Koro, against the Bohrok. When he entered a cavern leading to the village, he found several Nuhvok attempting to collapse the cavern. Using a system of strategy, he disabled many of the Bohrok, and obtained their krana. However, before he could finish, several Nuhvok Va entered the cavern and began screeching. Within seconds, the Bohrok responded to the retreat call, and left the cavern.[5]

After many of these battles, the Toa succeeded in beating back the swarm by defeating and capturing the Bohrok Queens who controlled them. The Bohrok and Bohrok Va began helping repair the damage they caused to the villages. While Matoran and Bohrok alike worked, the new Toa Nuva faced a greater threat, the Bohrok-Kal. Since they were never guided by the krana, the Bohrok Va turned against their allies and assisted the Bohrok-Kal.[4] Before the Toa defeated the Bohrok-Kal, the Bohrok returned to hibernation, awaiting when they would be truly needed.[3]

Soon after the Matoran evacuation of Mata Nui to Metru Nui, the Toa Nuva returned to the island, and reawakened the Bohrok Swarms.[6] United by duty, the Bohrok cleansed the island, their only obstacle being Kardas. After subduing the Rahi, the Bohrok finished their task,[7] and returned to their nests.

Abilities and Traits

Nuhvok Va are not well-equipped for heavy digging, but are able to adequately burrow shallow tunnels to make a quick escape. They prefer to scamper between shadows a good distance from onlookers. After moving from one shadow to another they stop to listen for threats. Nuhvok Va are able to squeeze into narrow gaps, and they have excellent night-vision.[1]

Tools

Nuhvok Va use claws, which serve as their hands and allow them to burrow to escape danger.[1] They are also used defensively.[2]

Nuhvok Va

8555 Nuhvok Va was released in the spring of 2002, along with the other five Bohrok Va. It contained twenty-six pieces. The set included a black krana, the dormant krana of Nuhvok. Pressing on its left arm results in its krana being flung out.

1432 Nuhvok Va, which is identical to the original except for the packaging, was released in Japan in 2003 as a promotion for the Kabaya Foods Corporation.

The pieces from Nuhvok Va can be joined together with pieces from 8551 Kohrak Va to make a Mata Nui Fishing Bird.

Trivia

  • The Matoran of Mata Nui sometimes called the Nuhvok Va "tunnel foxes."[1]
  • In the early 2002 krana guide and the lexicon on BIONICLE.com, Nuhvok Va were mispelled as "Nuvok Va" and "Nuhvak Va," respectively.[8][9] The former was fixed before the end of the year.[10]
