"Toa Metru!" is issue #16 of the BIONICLE series of comics and the first issue in its "Metru Nui" story arc. It was released with the LEGO Magazine of January/February 2004.
Plot Summary
Turaga Vakama begins to tell the tales of Metru Nui to the assembled Toa, who are startled by the revelation that they were not the first Toa among the Matoran.
Six Matoran meet at the Temple of the Great Spirit and are transformed into Toa Metru: Vakama, Nokama, Matau, Whenua, Nuju and Onewa.
Vakama has a vision that the city was destroyed, then restored, by the power of the Great Disks, so the Toa each set out to find the Matoran who know the locations of each Great Disk, despite the skepticism of some like Onewa, who asserts that the Great Disks are only legends.
While searching for Nuhrii, Vakama is nearly killed by Molten Protodermis - Morbuzakh vines were able to tip a vat of it because a four-legged creature had sabotaged the vat controls and caused them to move more slowly. Vakama learns that the Morbuzakh dislike cold and freezes the vines with a Kanoka. Vakama then rescues Nuhrii from a nearly collapsed building and is grabbed by a Morbuzakh vine. Nuhrii is able to fire an enlarging disk at the vine, forcing it to let go of Vakama, who escapes with Nuhrii.
Finding the Matoran has proved very hard for the Toa: Matau is trapped in an out of control Le-Metru Chute. Nokama is forced to swim to escape a squad of Vahki. Whenua is stalked by Rahkshi in the Archives. Nuju has to use his inexperienced Ice powers and Crystal Spikes to stop himself from falling, and Onewa falls due to a Po-Metru statue crumbling.
Having found all six of the missing Matoran, the Toa meet at the Great Temple. Nokama suspects that one of the Matoran set the others up, as does Vakama. Whenua proposes they split up into three teams to find the Disks, an idea to which the others agree. Vakama suggests that there is more to the Morbuzakh than seen.
Away from the group of heroes, the Morbuzakh ominously states its plans for the future.
