The Chamber of Death was a room located on the 777 Stairs.

History

The chamber was created by the Great Beings as one of the many obstacles placed on the path to the Chamber of Life. The chamber was stocked with Lightstones that gave off a red glow. When a group of adventurers entered the room, the recorded voice of a Great Being would tell the group to sacrifice one of its members. The chosen sacrifice would be disintegrated and resurrected shortly afterwards. This was meant as a test of the group's courage.

During their quest for the Kanohi Ignika, the Toa Inika passed through this room and were ordered to make a sacrifice. After some moments of hesitation, Matoro volunteered, and was consequently disintegrated. However, he was then reformed, and the Toa were allowed to proceed on their quest.

When Teridax was killed in the Battle of Bara Magna, the Chamber of Death was severely damaged, and the Matoran evacuated to Spherus Magna. Later, the Chamber of Death, along with all other locations in the Matoran Universe, was dismantled.
