Afa is a Le-Matoran native to Metru Nui.

Biography

Metru Nui

Prior to the Great Cataclysm, Afa lived and worked in Le-Metru. He was captured by the Vahki under the command of Makuta Teridax, disguised as Turaga Dume. He was then forced into a Matoran Sphere but was later rescued by the Toa Metru and awakened on the shores of Naho Bay on the island of Mata Nui.[2][3]

Mata Nui

Afa was physically shrunken and lost memories of his previous life as a consequence of being held in a Matoran Sphere. Early in the Dark Time, Afa worked alongside his fellow Matoran to construct the village of Le-Koro, led by Matau and making use of melted-down pieces from Airships which the Toa had utilized in transporting the Matoran to Mata Nui.[4] Afa became a Gukko Bird Force pilot on Mata Nui and typically patrolled the skies of Le-Wahi.[5]

It is unknown if Afa was captured during the Rahi attack on Le-Koro. After Matau and the captured Le-Matoran were freed with the help of Onua, Afa celebrated alongside his tribe.[6]

Afa was among the Le-Matoran to be captured by the Bohrok during the Bohrok Invasion. Following their capture, the Matoran had their Kanohi replaced with krana. The krana were later removed following the swarm's defeat by the Boxors.[7]

Afa was later rebuilt, along with the other Matoran, into sturdier forms.[8]

Return to Metru Nui

Afa later helped in the construction of boats to facilitate the Matoran's return to Metru Nui.[9] Immediately after reaching Metru Nui, Afa and the other Matoran commenced with work to restore the dilapidated city. He temporarily stopped his work of reconstruction on order of Jaller, to force the Turaga to reveal where the Toa Nuva had gone, but he eventually got back to work.[10]

During the Battle of Bara Magna, the Mata Nui Robot sustained severe damage, which caused internal systems such as light and gravity to malfunction. As a result of this, Afa and other surviving Matoran left the Matoran Universe to live on Spherus Magna.[11][12]

Trivia

  • Although Afa was intended to appear in Mata Nui Online Game II: The Final Chronicle along with five other members of the Gukko Bird Force, he was cut due to budget cuts and waning support from LEGO. Unlike the other five, Afa's name was never mentioned, and both it and his appearance remained unknown until they were revealed by Peter Mack twenty years later.[13] Because Afa appears in the Mata Nui Online Game, the character can be considered canon.
