Plot Summary

Nuju, Kualus, Whenua, and Bomonga laid half-buried under rubble as Kualus in his coma began to dream of what happened long before the Great Cataclysm that devastated Metru Nui, and the reason the Rahaga remained on the island.

Many years before Teridax posed as Turaga Dume, Toa Hagah Norik and Iruini fought against several Visorak. The Brotherhood of Makuta had stolen the Kanohi Avohkii, Mask of Light from its creators, but Norik and Iruini had it in hand and were determined to keep it safe from the Brotherhood. These Toa Hagah had previously been assigned to work for the Brotherhood, but the Toa discovered that the Makuta were corrupt. The two had soon learned that their fellow Toa Hagah have been captured by the Brotherhood, and to rescue them, Norik and Iruini had to fight Visorak, Exo-Toa, and Dark Hunters.

Just outside the gate of a Brotherhood of Makuta Fortress, Norik and Iruini fought their way through many Visorak. Suddenly, Krekka attacked the two Toa. Iruini countered with the aid of his Cyclone Spear, launching the Dark Hunter over his head. However, Krekka managed to get behind Iruini and grabbed him. He then flipped over Krekka and kicked him to the ground, while Norik threatened to destroy a Vohtarak if it would not show the Toa a safe way out. The Vohtarak agreed and they followed it.

Much later, after following the Visorak for quite some time, Iruini questions why they needed to retrieve the Mask of Light. Norik explained how they discovered the Brotherhood's secret. Suddenly Nidhiki walked by with two Vohtarak behind him, commenting about four captured Toa. Norik and Iruini binded their Visorak guide and decide to trail the Dark Hunter. Iruini stated that, as he had said earlier, he would leave the team after rescuing the others.

Iruini sneaked into the Brotherhood's base with the use of his Kanohi Kualsi, and discovered four short, Rahkshi-faced creatures in a prison. Norik and Iruini were shocked to discover that these were actually the Toa Hagah, mutated beyond recognition by Roodaka. She then appeared and blasted the prisoners, dubbing them "Rahaga." Norik caught Roodaka off guard allowing Iruini to open the prison. He told the Rahaga to run, and Norik and Iruini combined their powers to create a tornado of lava, distracting the Visorak. Unfortunately, their twister could not stop Roodaka's two Rhotuka, which struck both Toa as they ran to join their comrades, mutating them into the same forms as them. Roodaka ordered the Visorak to leave them, believing them to be no threat anymore. However, the Rahaga managed to escape with the Mask of Light in their possession.
