Biography

Metru Nui

On Metru Nui, Kai lived and worked in Ga-Metru. She was captured by the Vahki under the command of Makuta Teridax, disguised as Turaga Dume. She was then forced into a Matoran Sphere but was later rescued by the Toa Metru and awakened on the shores of Naho Bay on the island of Mata Nui.[5][6]

Mata Nui

Kai's body was reduced in size and strength by the time she spent in a Matoran sphere. However, she helped in the construction of Ga-Koro, working under Nokama and using materials from the Airships that the Toa Metru arrived on Mata Nui with the Matoran in.[7]

On Mata Nui, Kai was a sailor who spent most of her time walking around Ga-Koro shipyards getting orders from Marka. She made String and Rope from the Flax that Hahli brought her. Shasa used her Rope for her supplies, and Kailani used her String. Kai needed five Flax for one String, and five Strings for each Rope.[8]

Kai once tried to start a rowing club, but the first attempt was stopped when a Great Temple Squid attacked the Boat and grabbed Marka. She dove into the water to attack the squid with her teammates, forcing it to release Marka. They then followed the squid when it went to attack Ga-Koro and struck at it again, resulting in the squid being driven away.[9]

She was trapped in a sunken hut along with all the other Ga-Matoran during an attack on Ga-Koro from a Tarakava, but was later freed by Takua. Later, she witnessed the fight between the Tarakava and Gali.[10]

When the Bohrok were awakened, she also took a last stand with Nokama, Onewa, and the Po-Matoran, during the Attack on Ga-Koro, shortly before the Bahrag were defeated by the Toa Mata.[3][4][11] During The Rebuilding, she was rebuilt into a form resembling that which she had had on Metru Nui.[12]

Return to Metru Nui

Kai later helped construct Boats so she and the other Matoran could return to Metru Nui.[13] She later participated in the work restoring the city which had lost its grandeur in the past thousand years. She temporarily stopped her work of reconstruction on order of Jaller, to force the Turaga to reveal where the Toa Nuva had gone, but she eventually got back to work.[14]

Consequent to the extreme damage done to the Mata Nui Robot during the Battle of Bara Magna, Kai and other surviving Matoran left Metru Nui to travel to Spherus Magna to start a new life.[15][16]
