Kantai is a Ko-Matoran native to Metru Nui.

Biography

Metru Nui

On Metru Nui, Kantai lived and worked in Ko-Metru.

He was captured by Vahki under the command of Makuta Teridax disguised as Turaga Dume. He was then placed into a Matoran Sphere and went into stasis, but was later rescued by the Toa Metru and reawakened on the shores of Naho Bay on the island of Mata Nui.[3][4]

Mata Nui

As a result of being in a Matoran Sphere, Kantai lost his memories of Metru Nui and was reduced in size and physical strength. He helped in the construction of Ko-Koro under Turaga Nuju's guidance, using pieces from Airships brought to Mata Nui in the Great Rescue.[5]

On Mata Nui, Kantai became a Hermit and lived in the Drifts, near the Ice Floe in a small cave there. He was well-versed in the Kolhii Skill of Willpower and taught it to any who asked.[6] In the peaceful time after the defeat of the Bohrok-Kal, Kantai was rebuilt into a stronger form, alongside the other Matoran.[7]

He later foresaw the Ga-Matoran Hahli's coming and taught her Willpower by having her balance on the Ice Pole.[6] Kantai was evacuated from Ko-Koro with the other Ko-Matoran following the Rahkshi's attack on the village.[8][9][10][11]

Return to Metru Nui

Kantai later helped in the construction of Boats to return to Metru Nui.[12] After they reached the city, the Matoran populace, including Kantai, worked to renovate the dilapidated city. He temporarily stopped his work of reconstruction on order of Jaller, to force the Turaga to reveal where the Toa Nuva had gone, but he eventually got back to work.[13]

When the Great Spirit Robot was badly damaged, he and the other Matoran of Metru Nui left for Spherus Magna.[14][15]

Quote

"If I am at peace, I can know Mata Nui's Will. The Will is the greatest power you can master. To possess great Willpower is to be always aware."
