The Masks of Stone are Masks of Power which hold the element of Stone.

History

The Creature Mask of Stone came into existence with Ketar during the creation of Okoto.

During Okoto's golden age, Ekimu created the Protector Mask of Stone, which was passed down among the Protectors of the Stone Tribe. After learning of the coming disaster, Ekimu bid Protector Kerato retrieve an Elemental Stone Crystal from Ketar, with which he forged the Golden Mask of Stone. The Golden Mask of Stone was hidden in the Stone Shrine in the Region of Stone.

Pohatu wore the Mask of Stone when he arrived on Okoto 1,000 years later. Protector Nilkuu guided him to the Stone Shrine, where he retrieved the Golden Mask of Stone. Later, Kulta destroyed the Golden Mask of Stone with the Mask Stealer Staff.

After being awoken by the Toa, Ekimu forged the Unity Mask of Stone for Pohatu. Pohatu sought out Ketar's temple and retrieved the Golden Unity Mask of Stone, which allowed him to unite with Ketar.

Versions

Different versions of the Mask of Stone exist. Each mask provides the user some measure of control over stone.

Set Information

A 14 karat gold version of the Mask of Stone was displayed at New York Comic Con 2014.

The Protector Mask of Stone was released in 70779 Protector of Stone, and the Mask of Stone and the Golden Mask of Stone were released in 70785 Pohatu - Master of Stone in the winter wave of 2015. The drained Mask of Stone was released in 70794 Skull Scorpio in the summer wave of 2015.

The Creature Mask of Stone was released in 71301 Ketar Creature of Stone, and the Unity Mask of Stone and the Golden Unity Mask of Stone were released in 71306 Pohatu Uniter of Stone in the winter wave of 2016.

Trivia

• In BIONICLE: The Journey to One the Creature Mask of Stone features a horn on its fore section, which is not present in 71301 Ketar.
