Lewa, the Toa of the air, loves to move quickly among the treetops of the jungle. His powerful hatchet arm slices through vines and plants so he can glide through the air!

Set Information

The set's canister

The Lewa set was released in 2001 as one of the six Toa sets. The set consists of 36 pieces.

By combining pieces from Lewa with 8533 Gali and 8536 Kopaka, one can build Wairuha using instructions provided at the end of the manuals for the three sets.

In addition to the instruction manual, the set includes a poster of Lewa. The back of the poster featured advertisments for other LEGO products. Additionally, some copies of the set also contain a Toa Mata Mini Promo CD, indicated on the packaging.

The set was included in 65024 The Complete Toa Collection, 65025 BIONICLE Mata Nui Collector Pack, 65130 "Toa 3-Pack 2", K8525 Ultimate Bionicle Collectors Set, K8531 Ultimate Toa and Turaga Collectors Kit, K8532 Ultimate Toa Collection Kit, and K8533 Find the Power Kit.

Features

Lewa's right arm can be swung by turning a gear in his back. This function can be used to try to knock off the mask of another Toa or Rahi set. Uniquely among the six Toa, the construction of Lewa's left shoulder and hand allow him to hold his weapon with both arms while doing so.

The set's canister represents a Toa Canister in the story. Using heads and technic axles included 8525 BIONICLE Masks, the canister lid could be used for displaying masks, and as a representation of a Suva.

Collectibles

Lewa wears a green Miru.

Reception

8535 Lewa's score on Brick Insights indicates average reviews. The set was generally praised for its green colorscheme, while criticism was very mixed.

Trivia

  • In the parts inventory page of the instructions for Wairuha, a pair of axles (one 3-length and one 5-length) are depicted as green, as opposed to black used in the final set. These were likely used in a prototype for the set.
