The Toa of Light will save Mata Nui! Legends tell of a mysterious and powerful Seventh Toa who will save the island from Makuta… and now he has arrived! Wearing the Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light, and carrying the Kolhii Staff of Light, he will challenge the darkness of Makuta to free the Matoran. His vehicle, the Ussanui, can speed through the ancient tunnels beneath the island to reach Makuta's lair. The final challenge is about the begin! Push the lever down on Ussanui to make the landing gear come down. Fit the kraata into the Ussanui to help it track down Makuta! Combine this model with #8593 Makuta to build the powerful Takutanuva! |
Set Information
The Takanuva set contains 200 pieces, and was first released in the fourth quarter of 2003.
By combining pieces from Takanuva with 8593 Makuta, one can build the Takutanuva combiner model. The Takanuva set was later included alongside the Makuta set in the combo pack 3287 Takutanuva, as well as the special edition 10201 Takutanuva, which included a special Movie Edition Kraahkan.
During December 2003, the set was available gift-wrapped on LEGO Shop, with the set number 8596GW.[1]
Features
Spinning a gear on Takanuva's back causes the set to swing its right arm.
A lever on the left side of the Ussanui allowed one to raise or lower its landing gear.
Collectibles
Takanuva wears a golden Avohkii. A transparent Avohkii infused with golden glitter was also included in the set, which is said to represent the Mask of Light while in use. A dark gray Hau, which belonged to Jaller in-story, is mounted on the front of the Ussanui.
Reception
8596 Takanuva scored a total of 84 on Brick Insights, indicating positive reviews. Writing for BZPower, administrator Rich gave the set a 9/10, praising the set for its price-per-parts value and overall build.
Trivia
- In the sets instruction manual, the names of the 8594 Jaller & Gukko and the 8595 Takua & Pewku sets are switched.
- According to George Gilliatt, in the original brief for 2022 LEGO Classic set 30510 90 Years of Cars, the set was to include a brick-built model in homage to 8596 Takanuva, among other sets, serving as an expansion to set 11021 90 Years of Play.[2]
