Several of the smaller 2008 figures can be mounted on Pohatu's back, though the set is advertised as combining with 8946 Photok.

Trivia
- When originally listed on LEGO Shop in December of 2007, this set was title Pohatu Nuva,[3] which is also reflected in the URL of the BIONICLE.com products page.[1] It was later changed to Toa Pohatu, matching the title shown on the packaging.[7] The instructions instead label the set simply as Pohatu.
- On some pages of the instruction manual, Pohatu's left thigh is erroneously depicted as black rather than dark gray.
