The LEGO Magazine is LEGO's semi-annual periodical, showcasing their latest products to their target audience of young fans. The magazine has been in circulation since 1987, and has historically been free, either by mailing subscription or at LEGO retail stores.

History

The magazine has gone by many different names, and was originally know as Brick Kicks from 1987 to 1994, generally releasing on a quarterly basis. The title was changed to LEGO MANIA Magazine in the winter of 1994, and subsequently began releasing on a bi-monthly schedule. The publication adopted the monikers LEGO Magazine in 2002 and LEGO Club Magazine in 2008, which it maintained until 2017. During some of this period, the magazine had a separate version known as the LEGO Club Jr. Magazine geared towards younger readers. The magazine was rebranded in 2018 as LEGO Life Magazine, which it currently publishes as.

The Magazine's various iterations have featured comics for various LEGO themes, showcases of fan-submitted creations, exclusive building instructions, and in-depth information about sets, games, and contests. Greg Farshtey, author of the BIONICLE novels, served as editor and later editor-in-chief on the LEGO Magazine, and the series featured several spreads and contests that were canon to the BIONICLE line. The BIONICLE comics were also distributed within the magazine.

In 2005, the LEGO Group began offering special paid subscriber versions of the magazine, known as BrickMaster editions of the LEGO Club Magazine, charging an annual subscription in exchange for issues with additional contests, instructions and comics. BrickMaster subscribers also received small, exclusive LEGO sets for various themes with each edition, including BIONICLE sets 20005 Klakk in September 2008 and 20012 Click in September 2009. The BrickMaster magazine also offered LEGOshop.com coupons and LEGOLAND admission tickets. The subscription service was retired in 2011.

In 2009, LEGO published a magazine called The Brick, which talked about the employees of LEGO, the children of LEGO employees, and other facts. It was available for download, could be read online, or ordered to your address.
