Memory Crystals are objects made of crystalline protodermis that Ko-Matoran working in Knowledge Towers used to store information.[1]
History
Frost Beetles were known to break into Knowledge Towers and, once inside, to consume the Memory Crystals held there. Matoro suggested that these Rahi gained their above-average knowledge by devouring the crystals.[1][2]
After the Matoran of Metru Nui were rendered comatose in the Great Cataclysm, Memory Crystals fell out of use. When the Ko-Matoran resumed work in Metru Nui, Memory Crystals were once again used to store information.[citation needed]
Memory Crystals are still in use after the inhabitants of the Matoran Universe evacuated to Spherus Magna.[citation needed]
Functionality
When Scholars make physical contact with a Memory Crystal, they can transfer data from their minds into the crystal at will[1] via telepathy.[3]
