The Mata Nui Stone was a decorative Matoran item and a symbol used to represent Mata Nui in the legends told by the Turaga of Mata Nui.

History

After the Toa Metru relocated the Matoran of Metru Nui to Mata Nui, the Turaga used the Mata Nui Stone to tell stories of the past and the legend of Mata Nui.[1]

Mata Nui stones were also widely circulated for decorative purposes, and could commonly be seen in Matoran homes in varying sizes.[2] The entrance into Ga-Wahi used these as weights and counterweights to open the gate.[2] The paths through Po-Wahi featured large Mata Nui stones carved by Hafu, although Bohrok later destroyed these on their trek to the village.[2][3] Mata Nui stones were frequently used in Onu-Koro to hold candles.[2] Moreover, the Bohrok Nest Portal was shaped like a Mata Nui stone, ejecting Takua through its mouth.[2]

Set Information

A Mata Nui stone was included in 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua, represented by a tan egg piece.
