Talk:Kralhi
From BIONICLEsector01
The BZPower Timeline, lists Kralhi as having been created 24,000 years before the Great Cataclysm (or 25,000 years ago). Does anyone have a primary source for this? --SPIRIT (talk) 21:32, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- The BZP Timeline gets some information wrong, like placing Chutes way before Dume became the Turaga of Metru Nui. The point about the Krahli is marked with a red asterisk, which apparently means the correct placement is not known, so I don't think there is a source. Dag (talk) 21:44, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- As I said on Discord; this is directly contradicted by known sources, see Timeline/History of the Matoran Universe#The Career of Dume. To sum it up, World states Dume became Turaga of Metru Nui 15,000 years ago. Encyclopedia states the Kralhi were constructed under his instruction, and given the presence of Vahki in 4,000 years ago in Legacy of Evil, we know that the Kralhi must have been made between 15,000 years ago and 4,000 years ago. ~ Wolk (talk) 06:17, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Amount Made and Canonicity of the 2004 Story Bible
In the 2004 Story Bible, it specifies that 2 dozen (24) of these were made, and given it isn't contradicted, could I add this? In general, do we also consider the contents of the story canon or at least worthy of trivia info? Firespitter Lhii (talk) 15:47, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Details that never made it into published material, it may have been changed or scrapped and thus, I wouldn't consider them to be "canon", much like LoMN or Invasion. However, Gonel did cite Synopsis. Hmm...
- Personally, I would err towards adding it as trivia along the lines of "According to the February 2004 Story Guide..." but I wonder what others think. ~ Wolk (talk) 16:02, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- I was about to say that we could add either a note or a trivia point that according to the 2004 Style Guide, 24 Kralhi were made, similarly to how we treat the unused creatures in the LoMN alpha build.--SurelNuva (Talk) 16:24, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- I consider those canon unless contradicted by a larger body of evidence. But there's no need to rely on story bible for this one.
- Comic 17 confirms this:
- "It was the early design prototype for Metru Nui order enforcement squads, and perhaps two dozen were built."
- Metru Nui guide states:
- "They were "retired", but efforts to turn them off failed. About two dozen are still at large, a few in Ko-Metru, and a few in little-used parts of the Archives. The whereabouts of the rest are unknown."
- Also from BA5:
- "It was finally decided that they had to be shut down and replaced. Saying that and doing it proved to be two very different things. To this day, no one was sure how much self-awareness the Kralhi might possess, but they certainly resisted being turned off and scrapped. The Matoran were successful with a few of them, but most fought back hard. With the help of the newly built Vahki, the Matoran achieved a victory of sorts by driving the Kralhi out of the city. No one knew, or cared, where they had disappeared to as long as they were gone."
- So yes, 24 were built, then 3 (minimal requirements for "a few") were successfully shut down and the remaining 21 (which is still "about a dozen") escaped into Ko-Metru, Archives and the "unknown whereabouts", which is in fact Great Barrier, which made refuge for 7 Kralhi that came under service of Mavrah.--ToaKebaka (talk) 16:48, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- I will use all of these sources besides the 2004 story bible to say there are around 24 of them. The citation for the 2004 story Bible is this -> {{WebsiteCitation|originalurl=https://files.maskofdestiny.com/story/styleguides-bibles/BIONICLE-Story2004-ENG_translated.pdf|websitetitle=Mask of Destiny|pagetitle=BIONICLE-Story2004-ENG_translated.pdf}} <- in case we want to use it. It is translated from Russian I think, as I have come to learn from discussion on Talk:Rahi/Unnamed Rahi page, so the wording around the number could have changed meaning, and since we do have these sources, it shouldn't be used for story information, as I think is the typical standard. I will get around to it either today, tommorow, or Saturday, but if anyone wants to do it themselves, go ahead, just include all the sources(it's generally good practice and it is important when info has things like "about" or "around").
