Spherus Magna - Homeworld of the Great Beings, Glatorian, Agori, and many other species; many years ago shattered into pieces, pushing the Great Beings to create the Great Spirit Robot, which was to help fix the planet hundreds of thousands of years later
- Bara Magna - Desertic region of Spherus Magna; after the Shattering, it became an entirely new planet, housing the majority of the population and villages
- Aqua Magna - The great ocean of Spherus Magna, which became a celestial body orbiting Bara Magna after the Shattering; the Great Spirit crashed here while returning to reattach the fragments, and lay dormant for another thousand years, slowly releasing various entities and byproducts into the waters
- Bota Magna - Large jungle region of Spherus Magna, also became a separate fragment after the Shattering
Great Spirit Robot - A massive mechanoid which, as part of its internal structure, houses a number of islands and locations as part of the Matoran Universe

Mata Nui - The external covering of the Great Spirit Robot's face, named after the robot itself; due to an accident when landing on Aqua Magna, the island became a habitable paradise, though it was ultimately razed by the Bohrok to allow Mata Nui to reawaken
Metru Nui - The most important island within the Matoran Universe, its primary functions involve powering the brain of the Great Spirit
Southern Continent - Largest continent within the Matoran Universe, home to numerous types of Matoran and Rahi
- Voya Nui - Crescent shaped region of the Southern Continent, intended to be the home of the Kanohi Ignika
Artakha - Final destination for all good Matoran workers, constantly changing in appearance due to the ruler's whims and the perpetual, unending work of the denizens
Karzahni - Nightmarish realm where poor Matoran workers were intended to be fixed and returned to the workforce; due to the ruler's incompetence, the Matoran were not repaired properly, and eventually imprisoned on the island out of shame
Karda Nui - Primary energy source for the Matoran Universe, and destination where the Ignika is to be used in the event of a universe-wide power emergency
Xia - Hyper-industrialized island primarily responsible for weapons manufacturing; home to the profiteering Vortixx race, who act as arms dealers for the entire universe
