I'm curious to hear people's opinions on adjusting the format of this page. In its current form, this page spends most of its time on the differences between various mutation powers/mutagens. Since those differences are fairly substantial, listing them all out in one block leads to a rather dense read. In contrast, the lead section of other power pages, such as Teleportation and Shapeshifting, only talk about the power in broad terms. Those articles spend more time on the powers' users, example applications, etc. The subtleties of various users' powers are then left to the users' articles. I feel the latter format is more useful; it's more streamlined, and since it's already the dominant format for articles like this, sticking to that format on this page would make the wiki's organization more consistent (which is important so users can build an intuition of where to look for info). Thoughts? -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 02:18, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

To be honest, Teleportation and Shapeshifting need a rewrite. I wrote an essay of a post on the Teleportation talk page discussing contradictions as well as subtle differences between different forms of teleportation, mostly between the Kualsi and Makuta, which are not explained on the page. The same goes for Shapeshifting, and the differences between the Mahiki, Makuta, and Krahka. These kinds of details are kind of glossed over if mentioned at all on those pages, but I wrote Mutation to have them front and center. I think these details should be present on the respective power page and not just on the specific users' articles. If someone wants to learn more about a power and various forms of it across users, they shouldn't have to visit multiple pages to get all the details about it. That's not to say this page can't be improved on though. I wasn't too concerned with exactness, just a presentable proof of concept to bolster my argument for the creation of the page, which I just copied over when creating the page. Perhaps a Users section could be added, where these differences would be listed, instead of in the introduction. This would go for all similar pages like Teleportation and Shapeshifting as well. I feel like the specifics of each method should be more-so presented below each method, between the title and the affected beings. I find that the opening paragraph right now is kind of difficult to read, being very cluttered. ~ Wolk (talk) 02:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
I think this is going in the right direction, so thank you both for your edits. Wolk, that sounds like it has potential. Maybe all of the info could go under a "variants" section?
As for teleportation, I just read your write-up (although haven't looked through all the Greg quotes). I think you're right that we can't hammer down the exact limits of various teleportation powers based on Greg quotes because their details are kind of nebulous/change from quote to quote. Presumably Greg wanted some flexibility to use the powers however the story needed. Anyway, maybe after we figure out a good structure for this page, we can at least try adapting it for Teleportation and the like, although we may just have to rely on story quotes (not Greg quotes) for the power mechanics. -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 04:23, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

So one thing we'll kind of integrate is mutated Rahi, I suppose. Additionally, viruses. ~ Wolk (talk) 05:28, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
