Talk:Heat

From BIONICLEsector01

What is the point of having a Fire AND a Heat page? --Boidoh (talk) 00:29, 15 December 2014 (CET)

Well, because several characters have Heat powers without having full Fire powers, so it's somewhat helpful to differentiate the two. It's the same reason we have different pages for Air/Vacuum and Psionics/Telepathy/Telekinesis. --Angel Bob (talk) 01:01, 15 December 2014 (CET)

Plasma?

Just realized - some plasma-powered beings have heat powers. See Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2. In BIONICLE Chronicles 3: Makuta's Revenge, Pahrak-Kal was described as being able to release heat until "the temple walls turned to plasma." I realize that that book is semi-canon, but the Bohrok-Kal's powers seem to be consistent with official canon. Does this mean that all plasma-powered beings can emit heat? Or can they only use their heat to turn matter to plasma? Thoughts, please. -- Toa Jala Converse 06:41, 22 June 2016 (CET)

The plasma in the Bionicle is superheated gas... I think they could emit heat, because of their powers. -- Surel-Nuva (Talk) 20:01, 22 June 2016 (CET)
My thoughts exactly. So shouldn't they be listed here, too? Wouldn't that mean that heat isn't strictly a Fire sub-power? -- Toa Jala Converse 07:25, 23 June 2016 (CET)
So... Do you mean that the Heat is the Fire's and the Plasma's sub-power? I think that's right. -- Surel-Nuva (Talk) 11:40, 23 June 2016 (CET)
Yeah, so all Plasma-controllers should be listed here, but I'd wait for a staffer's opinion before making a change that big. -- Toa Jala Converse 14:32, 23 June 2016 (CET
I would say, you need to generate heat to create plasma. -- Surel-Nuva (Talk) 18:46, 23 June 2016 (CET)

I think they're creating plasma, and the heat is a result of that. They're not creating plasma from whatever it is they're melting, but using the plasma (since that is their element) to melt their target. Intelligence4 (talk) 08:58, 30 June 2016 (CET)

That said, I call bull on the whole element of plasma as a separate element. Their powers aren't really any different from those who wield fire, and once you get into the real world physics of it, they are, for all intents and purposes, the same friggin thing. (Same as my gripe with ice/water and earth/stone.) /rant (The preceding unsigned comment was made by Intelligence4)

Which is exactly why people stress over this way too much. They're fantasy elements. In terms of this, Heat generates Fire, Heat has not been shown to generate Plasma specifically. So Heat is a sub-power of Fire and not Plasma. Simple.
I'll need to go back and read BC3 again given that example, but also, Hapka's books have some deviating characteristics, so they're best not to take literally. -- Dorek Talk external image 07:43, 3 July 2016 (CET)

I re-read the BC3 and Pahrak-Kal attacks Tahu Nuva with heating the air around the Toa. And the book describes the plasma as intensive heat rays. -- Surel-Nuva (Talk) 19:06, 25 November 2016 (CET)
