Talk:News Report Animations

Is this... thing... canon? --Boidoh (talk) 21:37, 17 August 2014 (CEST)

No, certainly not. The fact that Onua is depicted holding a microphone should tip you off to that fact. :P
As for what differentiates "Promotional Materials" from "Non-canonical Appearances" in this new system... I'm not fully confident, since I'm still ironing out the details, but so far, here's my plan. Promo animations are usually semi-canon at worst, correct? They normally include a brief description of the sets' role in the story and their capabilities, which normally isn't far from the truth. So I've put them in a different category from obviously non-canon media, such as BIONICLE Heroes. Does that make sense? (Please, do tell me if it doesn't and needs to be fixed.) --Angel Bob (talk) 21:45, 17 August 2014 (CEST)
Makes sense, but for some stuff I would assume it would be kinda hard to make a difference. Like the Voya Nui Online Game, it's semi-canon, from what I've heard, but yet the Appearances bar calls it a non-canonical appearance. What separates it from the Promotional Materials?
And at the same time, what parts of VNOG are canon? I'll probably only bother playing it if I know what is canon and what is not.--Boidoh (talk) 21:50, 17 August 2014 (CEST)
And is this thing Promotional Material? I believe what Onua is reporting on is canon, but he reporting is not. It would be easier calling it semi-canon, since isn't everything other than the sets themselves promotional materials, meant to sell the sets? --Boidoh (talk) 21:52, 17 August 2014 (CEST)
It didn't happen in the story, and so is not canon in that sense. Promotional media often isn't, even if the events described therein did happen; it's sort of the point. -- I AM THE DOREK do not truffle with me 02:02, 18 August 2014 (CEST)
In general, the canon aspects of the VNOG are the worldbuilding aspects like the animals and locations, while the actual storyline isn't. Master Inika (Talk) 02:20, 18 August 2014 (CEST)
