Prison Powers

“Do you know what I did when I first joined the Dark Hunters?” asked Avak, dodging a hail of icicles. “I was a jailer. Other Hunters would bring in captives and I would lock them up.” “You should have saved a cell for yourself,” Kopaka Nuva said. “But there was one problem,” Avak said, ignoring the Toa’s comment. “Any lock can be picked. Any chain can be snapped. If someone wants to escape from a cell bad enough, they will find a way.” Avak swung his pickaxe, narrowly missing Kopaka’s head. The Toa Nuva responded by freezing both weapon and hand. If he expected that to stop the Piraka, though, he was mistaken. Avak smashed his hand against a rock wall and shattered the ice. “Now where was I?” said the Piraka. “Oh, yes, once I realized no escape-proof cell could be built, I went to the head of the Dark Hunters with the problem. He sent me to the Brotherhood of Makuta, and they… did things to me.” Kopaka hurled hailstones the size of boulders, only to see Avak bat them aside. Then the Piraka paused, as if lost in thought. The next instant, a cage made of flaming bars had sprung into existence around Kopaka. “Now I make my own cells,” Avak finished. “Any kind I need.” - BIONICLE Legends #1

His prison conjuring powers were not from Spiriah? ~ Wolk (talk) 17:45, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

They were. He just made his backstory more fancier to distract Kopaka. — SurelNuva (Talk) 19:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Prototype Name

This page currently has Avak's prototype name as "Mekram" (as added in an edit from November 5,2023), but do we know that that actually is the name used by the Avak prototype? As far back as 2013, I've found people claiming that Avak's prototype name was "Mekrani", not "Mekram", and the only primary source I can find on the subject has Avak's canister at such an angle that it's impossible to read any characters after the "A" in whichever name it is.-KuribohMaster666 (talk) 04:38, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Welcome on BS01! You bring up a very good point, one which I have been contemplating ever since I added this info back in November. As far as I know, the only source is the canister photo - that is the one I used anyway, and I have been unable to find a better picture to this day. I have spent many hours comparing the name lengths of prototypes and correlating them with how far they extend into the Piraka logo. The longer the name, the more it extends to the both sides from the center. We see that six letter names (Wracko, Trakka, Grraka) extend to the end of R and slightly beyond it. Seven letter names (Brutaka) extend to the inside of the I. When we look at Avak's name, we see that it extends all the way to the I, meaning it probably is a seven letter name. Because we cannot really see what is beyond the curvature of the canister, and because the length of the name also appears to slightly depend on the type of letters used (not just their number), I could not reliably determine the actual prototype name. The best educated guess was "Mekram", but even then I suspected it to be partially wrong - it does not sound like a proper Bionicle name and it should likely have seven letters, not six. Mekrani seems like the best guess for a seven letter name (N and I could appear as M when next to each other), but I cannot confidently say... We really need a better picture. What is the source of people claiming Mekrani and do they have access to something more visible?--ToaKebaka (talk) 06:24, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

That image is definitely the only source. Yeah, it is ambigious, my leaning is Mekrani too. Perhaps we change it to Mekrani and add a note explaining the ambiguity? ~ Wolk (talk) 09:45, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
I can do that, yes.--ToaKebaka (talk) 09:57, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
We also need to change the Mekram redirect. Or maybe keep it and just create Mekrani redirect in addition, just in case, seeing as this is still ambiguous.--ToaKebaka (talk) 10:08, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Prison Power Question/Contradiction

We know that Avak's prison can counter any and all powers of its prisoner, and Avak doesn't need to know their powers beforehand to make the prison, but Kongu was able to use his Suletu to break Avak's concentration and dissolve his vacuum prison. So does the prison not counter Kanohi powers, only natural powers and abilities, even though Greg said on the TTV message boards that it could contain a Iden user's spirit? Or does Avak actually need to know the power beforehand, as Greg says in this CwGF quote? Or does the prison only counter powers that can be used directly against it? Dag (talk) 16:31, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

I'd propose a third option: That it doesn't counter in-direct counters. Kongu used his Suletu to get into Avak's head, not to directly break the prison. ~ Wolk (talk) 17:10, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
That was my third option :) Dag (talk) 17:31, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
