Template talk:PowersNav

Disintegration should use MediumBlue, Water should use straight up Blue (at least for navlink colors... I miss my color index >:). Where does Water ever use MediumBlue? -- I AM THE DOREK do not truffle with me 02:30, 3 April 2014 (CEST)

Reorganization

I've always been confused and/or frustrated by the current layout, so I ask: what was the rhyme or reason to how it was organized, if any? My main concerns are the Sub-Powers, Other Powers, and Abilities. For example, Anger and Disintegration are listed as Standard Other Powers, but by that precedent, shouldn't the other 4 main Rahkshi powers be listed as well? If it were totally consistent, there would be many more powers listed than there currently are, but at that point it would just be more detrimental than anything. I lean towards removing Sub-Powers altogether, since they are covered by their respective elements, but I'm unsure how to handle Other Powers and Abilites. Perhaps Anger, Disintegration, Shapeshifting, Laser Vision, Heat Vision, and Teleportation can all be replaced by simply linking to the Kraata Powers page? Dag (talk) 18:46, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

What powers do and don't have pages always seemed arbitrary to me. I think a lot of the more obscure pages were added one by one through unrelated AFC proposals, hence the patchwork organization on this template. I'm not even sure if terms like "Abilities" are canon. Other staff who have been on the site longer may have more info. I'm fine with this template being reorganized. -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 19:48, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
Part of it is because we only list whatever actually has a page, yeah. Another issue is the origin of Vacuum; back in the day, people were in an uproar that Vacuum wasn't an element, so a sort of compromise was to refer to it as a "sub-power". But, future pages added (heat, telepathy, etc), despite being Powers (not elements) of their own, fell more readily into sub-powers because of how all-encompassing Elements are. I don't mind abolishing the "sub-powers" classification personally, but I don't feel particularly strongly one way or the other.
As for the other Powers, the whole reason they have pages is because they have multiple distinct users (or otherwise solid examples) so it feels slightly reductive to lump them back in to Rahkshi powers, but again, I don't know how useful those pages REALLY are, so that feels like an AfD thing.
And as for Abilities, that's something I came up with to acknowledge things that aren't really an offensive "Power" like laser blasts or whatever, but are intrinsic or unique techniques that certain beings have. I still like that one =) -- Dorek Talk External Image 20:01, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about the pages themselves (although that is also a discussion that should probably be had), but I just mean whether or not those pages should be linked to in the PowersNav. My point was that they're just powers included in the Elements that are already linked, so people who click on, say, Psionics, can get to Telepathy. And again, it's inconsistent (for example, Silence neither has a its own page nor does the Nav link to the Kraata Power section on it, even though it's a sub-power of Sonics). Kraata Powers

I think we should add Kraata Powers to the template, under "Abilities", perhaps after Shadow Hand. I don't know what color it should be, though. -- Toa Jala Converse 20:02, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
