Alternate Universes?

"Does the Mask of Clairvoyance allow the user to see the future, or just the most likely one?"
"The future for the universe the wearer occupies. Alternate futures would be in alternate universes."[1]

I came across this quote several months ago and realized it has implications for the Olisi. If it is true that "alternate futures would be in alternate universes," then wouldn't the visions created by the Olisi necessarily be AUs, rather than simple illusions created by Karzahni himself? This also just makes sense given the nature of AUs, where they're created whenever a choice is made, so universes are created where different choices were made. I started looking into the Olisi and found some evidence that would support this.[2][3] However, the one thing I couldn't reconcile was the erroneous vision with Lesovikk in Dreams of Destruction. If it was an actual AU, then how was Karzahni able to get it wrong? This would imply he created the vision, something Greg has echoed.[4][5] Without any answers, I put it aside and forgot about it.

That was until I happened to check the Lesovikk talk page today and saw a similar discussion about this has already happened, and it was pointed out that MGttU calls Lesovikk's vision an actual AU (p. 5). I'm still not sure how that works given the error due to Karzahni's insanity (also how was Lesovikk able to participate in it; was he transported to that AU, or his mind into that of the AU Lesovikk?), but the one glaring contradiction is now gone.

Maybe this is something that's already been settled and I just haven't realized, but the way this page is currently worded is that it divides possible futures from alternate timelines, as if those futures are only possible and don't actually exist in some AU. Right. I believed Olisi shows AU based on the book, but the book only supported so far that there was an AU that matched what Lesovikk saw. How Lesovikk was able to be an agent in that reality is a good question... ~ Wolk (talk) 12:25, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
Maybe it was just an error in the book? Or Lesovikk's mind basically observed what that universe's Lesovikk did, but the Olisi made him think he's doing it?--SurelNuva (Talk) 13:23, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
