So TV Tropes and the BIONICLE Wiki claim that Karzahni's set was Greg Farshtey's favorite because he actually created the character concept himself, rather than deriving one from a set made by the Lego Group. Anyone know of the legitimacy of this?--Wiriamu (talk) 05:40, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

It could easily have been said in an interview, which would make it more difficult to find. Mind Scanning

I removed the telepathic scanning a while ago because I couldn't find anything in BL2 that suggested Karzahni had that power, and Greg's answer that he didn't think so either. But I just came across BL2 Chapter 9 which says "Karzahni scanned the surrounding area, first with his eyes, then with his mind." I must've missed it the first time, and it would of course take priority over the Greg quote. However, another option that would reconcile both the book and the quote is that it's a feature of the Olisi, not a power of Karzahni himself. One quote is particularly enlightening:

"3. How did Karzhani know about Lhikan?"

"3) Same way he knew about Mata Nui and Makuta, from his scan of Jaller's mind in Bionicle Legends #2"

"4. How does Karzhani get info on the stuff for the alternate futures?"

"4) Again, it's a part of his telepathic power"[1]

In fact, I just checked, and nearly every published source attributes the Olisi's power to Karzahni himself (BL2, DroD, ItD, World, BEU, with bioniclestory.com as the only exception). This is something Greg had actually gone back and forth on in quotes.[2][3] Given that context, it's likely that the mind scanning of BL2 Ch 9 would also have been a feature of the Olisi. Thoughts? I would say that the context of the mind scanning quote is what matters. The main difference is that in the very same book, when Karzahni is using the Olisi's powers, it is described as such, while the product description could have been based on an earlier story bible, like Axonn forming lava balls, which was written by the marketing team, not directly Greg himself. So I think the telephatic/mind scanning is Karzahni's power, not his mask's.--SurelNuva (Talk) 12:39, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

I agree context matters, but I'm not sure what you mean by this:

I double-checked, and I still don't see anywhere in BL2 that suggests it was his mask that produced the power. All I could find is Ch 5 which says "energy flashed from Karzahni’s gauntlet." Dag (talk) 18:57, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
