Talk:Kanohi Nuva

From BIONICLEsector01

A Discrepancy?

So, according to this page, the Aki and Rua Nuva masks take their adaptive forms if the wearer has Adaptive Armor. However, the Toa Kaita page states that the Toa Nuva's Kaita can be formed while wearing the adaptive armor, but the Kaita won't posess the armor. I would presume that this means they won't have the adaptive Kanohi either. Thus, (as I understand it) adaptive Kanohi Nuva don't exist. So is the Kanohi Nuva page here incorrect? Should the images of the "adapted Rua and Aki" be removed?

Adaptive Kanohi Nuva do exist. The discrepancy comes from assuming that a Kaita is the only way to get an Aki or Rua. It may be possible to forge one, and the Aki Nuva page states one can be formed by melding a particular set of three masks, it does not specify that a Kaita must be formed. We simply have only seen them through the Kaita. I would guess that the armor itself isn't passed on to the Kaita because it becomes non-functional. I would bet that, in story, Artakha hadn't thought to put in a Kaita feature, yet.ζω·τωμαναexternal image

Ah, got it. Thanks. LockmanCapulet 10:27, 4 February 2013 (PST)

Tahu's Masks

Currently the following is cited for Tahu's Nuva masks having survived the destruction of Ta-Koro:

https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2003-2008/page74#post2959-line80-81

21) What about Tahu Nuva? His village sank into the lava. Are his masks and Nuva symbols down in the lava? Or were they saved?

21) They had been hidden elsewhere after the Bohrok-Kal incident

However, Greg has since consistently stated that they were destroyed in the lava:

When Ta-Koro was destroyed, what happened to Tahu Nuva's power symbol and his Kanohi Nuva Masks

2) The masks would probably be under the lava, but we do not know if they have been actually destroyed or not. His power symbol was not in Ta-Koro at the time, because after the Bohrok-Kal incident the Turaga moved all the symbols to a safer place than the villages.

#11 Do the Toa Nuva have all the Kanohi Nuva?

11) All except Tahu, many of his were destroyed when Ta-Koro was destroyed

2. Does Tahu no longer have increased Nuva elemental power, his Nuva Symbol, and his Kanohi Nuva?

2) No. Yes, the nuva symbol still exists, he just doesn't need it. And no.

4: Can Tahu still wear Kanohi Nuva?

4) Not as a Mata, no, he wouldn't be able to use them. But his other Nuva masks were all lost when Ta-Koro got destroyed anyway.

Any thoughts on this? Additionally, there is a mismatch of information on the current page, with the statement of there being thirty-one Kanohi Nuva in existence, where as with Tahu's, this should say 36 (on that note, the rule I've been taught for formal writing is that anything above twelve is written out in numerals). This means an edit needs to occur regardless of what conclusion we come to. ~ Wolk (talk) 01:26, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

Came looking for this while working on Suva which also says they were saved, but in the back of my head I remember them being destroyed. How are such contradictions usually handled? My gut is that he became so consistent on it that the "right" answer is that the Kanohi were destroyed. Here's another where it's a given they were destroyed: https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2003-2008/page312#post12474 . My take would be to say they were destroyed and footnote his earlier position, but I'm new here so certainly would yield to others' thoughts. ChroniclerTakanuva (talk) 01:18, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
I think in this case, his most consistent answer should take precedence.--SurelNuva (Talk) 22:46, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for taking so long to get back to this; yeah, a footnote approach seems good. ~ Wolk (talk) 14:52, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
