Mirrored Image

It is noted in the Trivia that the image in the book is mirrored. Is the image used on the page mirrored? (The preceding unsigned comment was made by Wolk)

Yes. — SurelNuva (Talk) 21:54, 29 August 2017 (CET)

Status as "transformed"

Unlike other Matoran who have been transformed (such as Phantom and Gaardus), Gatherer never actually "transformed," he's still an Onu-Matoran underneath his heavy suit of armor. Should he therefore be classified as "transformed," or could he be considered, technically, still to be a standard Onu-Matoran? -LavaringX (talk) 22:42, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

If I recall correctly he no longer wears nor is capable of wearing a Kanohi. He, as well as Spinner, would be better phrased as Rebuilt. ~ Wolk (talk) 00:08, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

Rhotuka/Kanoka

I'm really unsure about the recent edits transforming the Mind Scramble Rhotuka in a Kanoka. For one thing, the "probably" quote used as a citation feels really like "didn't check, but there is a chance". Then, with NOGLB clearly describing it as a Rhotuka, and also using his Kanoka disks, wouldn't that mean he used the two weapons? --maxim21 04:31, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

In Gatherer's entry from the DH guide book, four weapons are listed: a blade that can cut through protodermis, another blade that doubles as a shield, an energy canon, and a Rhotuka launcher. All but the Rhotuka are actually present on the model, and it makes no mention of the obvious Kanoka launcher. This isn't the only time there has been confusion between Rhotuka and Kanoka, like in Conjurer's DH entry (which is also addressed in the post cited for Gatherer) and Roodaka's BEU entry.
Yes, NOGLB does muddy the waters a bit. However, it was written by a fan who was no doubt just going off of what the DH guide book said, which we already established was erroneous. I still find it simpler to just chalk it up to an error rather than accept it as a valid retcon. Dag (talk) 04:52, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
I'm still on the side, that he used Mind scramble Kanoka, before he aquired a Rhotuka launcher and realized that he has the same rhotuka power as the kanoka disks he used.--Surel (Talk) 17:26, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
The problem I have with this is that it's quite the coincidence. Plus, it doesn't explain how or why Gatherer obtained the Rhotuka Launcher (or how he eventually lost it, depending on how you choose to see it). Sure, Lurker uses a Hagah Plasma Cannon in NOGLB that isn't part of his model either, but the story acknowledges that:

The crimson-armored Dark Hunter known as Lurker laughed maliciously. Hefting a massive plasma cannon, he turned to his companion, the colossus Gatherer.

"You see, Gatherer? The Xians are not without their uses."

Gatherer gestured to the blaster Lurker held. “I thought you abstained from fancy weaponry."

"Ordinarily, yes," Lurker said, tossing the tool to Gatherer. "I much prefer to feel my kills. Long range weaponry is so impersonal. The devastation this causes, though ... nothing short of magnificent."

To say Gatherer actually had a Rhotuka launcher requires assumptions about the story that just can't be made certain. Dag (talk) 17:53, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Sam Winfield's Brickshelf and BZPower Accounts?

I just happened upon a Brickshelf account with a gallery of a revamped Gatherer, saying it's "a revamped version of my Dark Hunter contest entry." While it's very obviously not the original model, this account, Mordashira, claims Gatherer is their contest entry. Doing a search on the name, I found this BZPRPG article on a character with the same name made by Mord (the image on the article is also on the brickshelf gallery). Is this definitive/significant enough to mention on the page? Dag (talk) 23:57, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

I guess yes? Usually on brickshelf the accounts are reliable in that way, if it's a recreation, not their original it's noted.--Surel (Talk) 04:01, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
In my opinion this seems like sufficient evidence to link the accounts. Would you also be interested in mentioning the revamp in the article? If so, we might want to widen that discussion to include other creator revamps, such as the Miserix one. I don't remember if we've ever discussed adding those to BS01--a (cursory) search didn't yield anything. -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 19:51, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
I'm all for it. I think BS01 needs to make a better effort to not just catalogue canon and behind the scenes trivia, but also fan accomplishments, even if they're not canon. This not only includes things like winners making revamps of their entries, but entries that didn't win (part of the reason why I've been piecing together the Tobduk and Melding Teridax contests on my sandbox page), such as this awesome Rahi entry from 2004. I'm all for it if we're doing it for all where possible. ~ Wolk (talk) 02:49, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
