Tunnel Stalkers are large insect-like Rahi.
History
The Tunnel Stalker species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[2]
A small colony of Tunnel Stalkers established themselves in Po-Metru on Metru Nui. However, only two sightings of this species were ever recorded. One of the specimens was captured by a Vahki squad and sent to the Archives to be viewed by all.[3]
Following the Great Cataclysm, some Tunnel Stalkers found their way to Po-Wahi on Mata Nui, where they lived for 1,000 years.[3]
When the Toa Nuva intentionally unleashed the Bohrok, the Tunnel Stalkers migrated back to Metru Nui.[4]
After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Tunnel Stalkers left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]
Abilities and Traits
Tunnel Stalkers are well known for their hunting technique. A Tunnel Stalker lurks in tunnels just beneath the sand, with its bladed tail ready to attack. When it senses movement on the surface, it leaps out of the sand and strikes its prey.[3]
Besides their stingers, Tunnel Stalkers also have sharp pincers and mandibles for defensive purposes.[3]
Trivia
- The Tunnel Stalker, originally called "Skarhana", was made by former BIONICLEsector01 admin Pekel for the Rahi Building Challenge. Although it was one of the contest's winners, it did not appear in the Rahi Beasts guide. Greg Farshtey later included the Tunnel Stalker in the BIONICLE: Encyclopedia at Pekel's request.[5]
