Talk:Mata Nui Robot
From BIONICLEsector01
"After around 99,700 years of travel," Where do the 700 years come from? [Timeline/History_of_the_Matoran_Universe|Our timeline] states it launched 100,000 years ago and crashed 1 000 years ago, meaning only 99 000 years? ~ Wolk (talk) 11:52, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

So why exactly was the source removed saying that the robot was made of both protodermis and Exsidian?
The revision says "older answer takes precedence", but there isn't really any contradiction between the sources. There's no reason that they can't both be true.

- Well, Protosteel is a type of metallic prtodermis, and a Protosteel/Exsidian alloy would therefor consist of metallic protodermis. I see what you're saying there--however, the quote clearly states it is *not* Protosteel. ~ Wolk (talk) 22:24, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- There are two additional sources on the issue that I found today. A CwGF quote that says it is undetermined (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2013-2017/page532#post11572525-line2,7) and an OGDi quote saying it is a mix of metallic protodermis and protosteel (https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2008-2010/page236#post9429-line8,17). If we're going by earliest answer, the one that is currently given on the page is still the oldest. But still, there is "The Rising" (can I also get confirmation from someone who knows whether its more or less canon than Greg's answers?) that only mentions metallic protodermis. However, as Wolk mentioned, protosteel is a type of metallic protodermis, but sometimes the term 'metallic protodermis' is used to refer to non-protosteel metallic protodermis, which is how it is used in the currently cited quote. But whether the GSR is only metallic protodermis or a mix of it and protosteel, Exsidian is definitely not included. Dag (talk) 22:52, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- It's highly likely something like The Rising would be written by the story team, granted its significance to the general story. That would probably make it the most canon media. Then it only says the head is made of metallic protodermis. This can probably be extended to the whole robot, but would a such an extension be enough to challenge a Greg quote?
- If that's not the case, I agree the CwGF can be discarded since there are answers from when the story still ran. Concerning the OGDi answer, I would go with the closest one to the end of the story (protosteel/metallic protodermis mix). --maxim21 06:33, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- The original answer specifically says it's not made from protosteel at all, which matches with The Rising, so it's 2 sources for the same answer, against a later forgetcon. And it is closer to 2008, when the robot was unvailed, when the properties were probably decided for the alloy.--Surel (Talk) 12:28, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- I found this answer stating it is an alloy of Protosteel and Exsidian. Lukas Exemplar (talk) 20:39, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
