Talk:Infected Lewa Animation

From BIONICLEsector01

Why is it semi-canon? I can't find anything in the video what contradicts to the 2001 storyline, so it could be simply canon. — SurelNuva (Talk) 17:44, 29 March 2017 (CET)

Infected Lewa only acted inside the Nui Rama Hive iirc, the video shows Infected Lewa in the jungle. --- Creep 19:11, 29 March 2017 (CET)
Where was it stated that Lewa was infected in the Hive? He might get the infected-Kanohi before he was forced to go to the hive. — SurelNuva (Talk) 20:11, 29 March 2017 (CET)

In that case why is this semi-canon instead of non-canon? -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 17:52, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

I don't see anything on the Lewa page to suggest he wasn't wearing an infected mask prior to being in the hive. If anything, this should be neither semi- or non-canon... ~ Wolk (talk) 18:52, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Lewa does materialize out of thin air without a Huna though, so it can't be entirely canon even if the Rama stuff checks out. -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 21:01, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Couldn't we just say that he was teleported there without a mask? How he appears looks like how Greg described the Makuta's teleportation powers. — SurelNuva (Talk) 06:14, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Semi-canon vs non-canon is always an interesting debate. I tend to make the distinction as semi-canon being "canon events depicted a non-canon way" vs events that simply didn't happen. One of my go-to examples is always BC1; the whole plotline of the mask hunt happens, but certain things like Lewa encountering a baby Gukko are story embellishments, making it "semicanon".

Then, of course, there's promotional videos, which functionally exist outside of "canon" because they're not always meant to straight depict events, they're just commercials and hype. There's a difference between this and, say, the Rise of Mata Nui because the latter was intended to be a big story reveal.

So I think the debate should be less "how do we fit X video into canon" and more if we want to create a new term for promotional videos like this, use an existing term (such as non-canon) or just not label it as anything and hope people can tell the difference. -- Dorek Talk External Image 20:40, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
