Vakama's green eyes in the movie
Hi, guys. I have a question about the Hordika Venom. In the movie, Vakama's eyes turned green when he became evil while being a Toa Hordika. This is not shown anywhere else, not even the novelization of the movie. I thought it was Roodaka who mind-controlled Vakama to be evil, but she doesn't have mind-control powers, does she? Do you think the green-eyes thing is just from the movie? If the green-eyes things is canon, then does the Hordika Venom make its hosts eyes turn green whenever it makes the people animalistic because of their anger and despair?
- Ironically it matched the set's eyes, which were also green, unlike Turaga Vakama's eyes which were pink. But technically speaking I believe that eye change was just a visual reference of him changing sides for the young audience.--SurelNuva (Talk) 08:42, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Canonicity
Considering that the Hordika tools being fused to their arms and the Rahaga propellers are non-canon, should this be given the semi-canon tag? --Toatapio Nuva (talk) 08:13, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Greg would call it artistic license, like Malum wieling a Cordak Blaster, or the Toa Metru's eyes matching their movie Turaga eyes rather than either of the sets' eyes, Teridax's winged titan form being a lazy MoL Makuta with large Nivawk wings rather than visually shown that he has absorbed Nidhiki, Nivawk, and Krekka, as it was described in the books, or the Bara Magna inhabitants in TLR being mostly mechanical with rotating screws, or the first act of TLR where the island of Mata Nui isn't a barren rock, the robot simply sits and stnads up, unlike in the 2008 Rise of Mata Nui animation, and the Ignika travelling from an entire other universe to the Bara Magna, where it was literally next to it, and that there were landmasses on the Aqua Magna 2:52 here. There always are discrepancies in the movie, where the movie designers goes on their own ways and not really asking if it makes sense or not.--SurelNuva (Talk) 08:55, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- However, the other artistic liberties of the movies are generally just visual, like the masks being capable of emoting. The Hordika weapons and the Rahaga propellers do change how things work. Though IMO the Semi-Canon banner should be done away with regardless. It's better to explain the inconsistency/liberties than to just say "some unspecified detail here is not canon" which makes people go "BS01 says this entire piece of media is entirely non-/semi-canon". ~ Wolk (talk) 11:43, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
