Tabs for editions
Currently, we are very limited in when it comes to presenting different editions of the same book, with different languages, ISBN numbers, and publishers. For some books we list multiple publishers and ISBN numbers, but it's not clear what matches with what. We could add a note, but that quickly becomes too much. Thoughts on implementing tabs for this, similar to what we have for the Toa infobox? ~ Wolk (talk) 11:25, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Looks like we did this at the same time :D I have created a proposal in the voting center: https://biosector01.com/wiki/BIONICLEsector01_talk:Voting_Center#Improve_the_Book_infobox_template
- Perhaps I will move the proposal to this page--ToaKebaka (talk) 11:33, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- My original proposal:
The current book infoboxes are rather limited in what they can display. Most BIONICLE books have a large number of editions and localizations that we need to keep track of and the current format does not enable to effectively showcase the necessary information. Here is a proposal for an improvement:
- add infobox windows for the number of pages (an obvious choice), language (an obvious choice), region (the language does not necessarily equate the country of release, and the same edition can be published in multiple countries), translator (seems fair to properly credit these people), and (insert suggestion here)
- enable the infobox to switch between different editions of the book (with their specific ISBN and all other information), similar to how character infoboxes switch between different forms of said character - this would enable all of the important information to be displayed succintly on the page. In this case, the picture in the infobox would always be of the selected edition's cover.
I believe this would be a huge improvement over the current format and would ease any viewer into finding what they are looking for.
EDIT: The number of pages and language suggestions have already been applied thanks to Wolk.--ToaKebaka (talk) 11:40, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
