Discussion

Please use this space for any kind of discussion about the voting! Let us know who you voted for, or gush over your favorite entries; there are so many good ones I don't know how I'll pick.

If you have any questions, we'll do our best to answer them here as well. -- Dorek Talk external image

Nice work everyone! A lot of great concepts and MOCs here in both categories. Question though, did wiping printing from a piece count as modification? I just noticed Umarak the Gatherer's gold chestplate never came without printing. Sergei Rahkmaninoff (talk) 05:36, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for letting us know about this. After some discussion, we've decided to let it slide. One may argue that a part can lose its printing under normal wear and tear (although it looks like that's not what happened here). The same can't be said about painting or cutting parts. We'll be more explicit about printing in any future contests. -- Morris the Mata Nui Cow (talk) 22:13, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Oh, my bad. Thanks for not disqualifying my entry. I'm so used to using the silver and gold chestplates that I kinda forgot they never came as such in actual sets. It's a bit of a grey area, IMO, because although they never made it into sets, the chestpieces did exist as unprinted parts at some point during the production. If I use a part that gets molded in a Lego factory but isn't used in a set, how different is it compared to using a TNG Miru or a prototype Hau Nuva ? If I erase printing from a part that came printed in the box, how different is it from adding stickers on CCBS shells which shouldn't have any, like the Vahki ?
Now, about the voting itself, I assume the entries in bold will make it to the final round. Am I right ? If it's the case, that seems a bit unfair, considered the entry B-1, for example, has more votes than the entry A-2, or D-3 has more votes that F-1. Does that means than in fact, it's not the top three entries of each category but the entry with the most votes in each poll that makes it to the final round ? --Leewan (talk) 11:26, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
We talked about the prototype entry too, but similarly, something I didn't specify (thought I had) so we let it slide too. Plus Pick a Brick has been known to send parts out unprinted from time to time, so it's not like unprinted parts are totally unavailable.
It's not top three of votes, it's winner of each poll, sorry for the confusion. So the ones bolded are the ones moving on to the next round. Sometimes the matchups are tough, but we can't control the number of votes each one gets. No knock on the quality of any of the entries, which were all fantastic! -- Dorek Talk external image 15:40, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for clearing that up. (: --Leewan (talk) 16:58, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Not sure exactly how to contact Dorek, but flickr or email is always good (xcdcolvera@gmail.com) Bricksonbricks (talk) 03:51, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Will the winning models get a place on this wiki somewhere even though they don't have any story significance?--Harsulin's Ghost (talk) 01:15, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
